Top FIVE Vintage items that YOU own (TAKE PICTURES!) v2009

Star Wars Forum UK - British Fan Community for Toys, Movies & Collecting

Help Support Star Wars Forum UK:

Lee - Thats an awesome top 5 you have picked. The 3PO is stunning.

Del - Also a stunning set of 5 from yourself. The DT Vader is top notch.

Chaz - Kudos to you on your 5. Thats most likely the best 5 items anyone could wish for if concentrating on the Leia Boushh.

Good going to all.

Grant.

Ok ok, I'll do it tomorrow (my collection is at the parents house.....they have contents insurance).

Now I need to figure out WTF my top 5 is!

More and more quality peices surfacing.

Chaz that Ledy boussh gets better everytime i look at her! What a start to a focus.

Christian, Wow amazing top 5 you have there. I especially like the top 5 you sold. The Jawa looked awesome.

Wow Christian, I have to agree with Ron, I think from an outsiders point of view, I like your "sold" top five better than your current top five but of course that's the great thing about this nostalgic collecting, you still have and love your original R2 but you sold a beautiful and rare tri Jawa.

Can't beat those childhood figures, they truly are priceless :)

Christian, I love your top 5. I wish I had some childhood figures in my collection, they would definately make my top 5! :D

Thanks guys :)

Yep there are certainly some good'uns I've let go but TBH I haven't missed them at all. I had the joy of finding the two Trilogos, albeit seperately, having them graded and in my collection for some time. Once I decided that I wasn't going to complete my Trilogo MOC collection I sold them along with the rest over a short space of time. It allowed me to clear a vast CC debt plus branch out into new areas of collecting. No regrets :)

I suppose I'm just one of those collectors who loves a new challenge whilst being a completist at the same time. For example the Spray Operation Error figures are now proving quite difficult to find - or at least ones I don't already own. This is the exact situation I relish - the thrill of the chase. Once I've got examples of each SW-ROTJ figure (hopefully), I'll enjoy them for a while and then probably move onto something different. For example - I think that the next section of my collection to be 'liquidated' will be my complete set of ROTJ MOC's (87 packages to post ekkkk!!!!)

By far and away the most important piece to me is that battered R2 Sensorscope (I also have the cardback) - it's where it all began. I'm also extremely pleased that my childhood figures & vehicles are still in my collection and that my 2 year old son already likes looking at Daddy's display (but no bloody touching right boy!) My loose set will be his one day - everything else is dispensible but only for the right reason.

Anyhow, I think we can all agree that this thread shows what a huge amount of time, dedication and money most of us have given to this great hobby. Some stunning items on display :)

Now - has anyone got any MOC DT beaters available... :P

Cheers,
Christian

Christian, I must protest. The dark brown hair Luke farmboy you sold me should be in that second top 5!

Seriously, great top 5 Christian!

I really love this thread.

Christian,

Absolutely love the Trilogo Jawa.. I will agree that any childhood owned figures belong in any top five..

Very nice Christian! 8)

You don't see too many AFA80 Tri Logo Jawa's around!

I like the appearance of the auld busted up R2!
I still have a few of my old childhood figures, obviously in terrible condition, but it's nice to have them. You can't replace them, unlike most other items.

Ok here goes, it's only taken me 6 weeks to get round to doing this!
Apologies for the, as usual, piss poor pictures, but I wasn't using my own camera and these were the best pictures I could get. You wanna see the ones I rejected  .

In no real order;

1) Glasslite R2, I just love the totally different card backs with the Glasslite figures.

MOC014.jpg

2) POTF Nikto, definately something seriously cool about the POTF cards.

MOC018.jpg

3) POTF Anakin, kinda self explanitory.

MOC019.jpg

4) LL Ackbar. I don't have a particular favourite amongst the Ledy cards, but as I was taking pictures of him anyway I thought I'd stick auld Ackie in

MOC009.jpg

5) Finally, LL Scout-walker. This is what started my LL and Vehicles fetish. Sorry, I thought I had a better picture on this comp.

So, there's my top five, which will no doubt change 2 mins after I post this!

Weas, some very nice items pal,the Glasslite R2 is top drawer

One thing I do not understand though is that you have some seriously cool items in your collection and you drive a DB9(apparently),but it looks like you have the one of those £2.99 disposable cameras.

You can surely take a better pic with your phone. :D

Almost fell off my chair laughing at that Lee

Nice top 5 weez but your pictures are crap

James, you know me too well! Complete technophobe!

I was at the folks house and used their digital camera, it's terrible, 80% of the pictures weren't focused or were blurry as ****. I have no idea what the auld man has done to it but it's buggered. Obviously the fact I'm useless with technology really didn't help.

lol sounds like my new camera.
Its a million times worse than my old one lol.

Thats a great top 5 btw.

Heres my top 5 (sort of i couldnt decide)

i put the blue snag onto the recard to preseve him (as he is in mint condition)... rather than some bloke putting it in a plastic case for me and tell me its good by putting a 80% acurate estimate on the quality of its paint job and charging me for the privalige.. (anyway i will stop now)

the c3po is a palitoy, the tie fighter is mint but some tit cut out the pop..... i change my mind to the top five of my collection but i thought i'd make a start.... but my fav is boba (i think) the c3po is minty as mint could be except for a speck of white where the edge of the card has been bumped on the top left... apart from that it looks like it was made in the factory yesterday.....
