Today on Facebook...

I just counted through the thread and he's sold at least 60 of them at time of writing. When this many people think these are a good deal, what hope is there.

This may explain Dan's feeling towards EB and Yavin. Connect the dots. Thankfully most of the admins of all the groups are aware.

The Yavin group is and always was a joke. Plays second fiddle to echobase and gets their scraps and that's saying something.

Not sure why you feel the need to say that. Say more about your character than ours.

As I said, just my opinion.

He's sold out now. He should have charged twice the price.

Bottom corner of that Kez was already open but Hey Ya. You can see it in the auction photo.

Why slice the rest of the bubble off? You could of left it as it was but then I guess I don't understand greed. I would assume you had no intention of doing anything other then what you did when you bought it.

And you are a liar.

I don't know what (if anything) could or should be done about these stupid prices. There are a lot of collectors jumping on the SW bandwagon buying items left, right and centre without questioning prices. I could have purchased an item I've been after for 2 years but it was £40 more than I was willing to spend. Am I wrong in doing that? Knowing my luck the rest will appear on ebay for £100 more than normal in future but I just wouldn't have enjoyed it as much knowing I'd spent that extra £40.

The next 2 years are going to be very interesting.

Problem with prices is that people are getting greedy and trying to get more than current price... also, people cannot say anything without getting hassled for price bashing... even if the item is over priced. No one says anything. Once that item does sell at the higher price, it sets the standard for everyone else to sell at that price.

People ask for valuations and the amount of 'look on ebay' replies is ridiculous... EBay has always been higher due to fees etc, but the collector markets have always had the edge. Sadly FB group prices are becoming in some cases higher than eBay.

Same can be said for the auction pages... if everything was listed at a minimum price then let the market choose what it's worth. Most seem to list high prices to start with.

I am amazed at the Luke Jedi sale - 20.10GBP for a weaponless Luke

Seller must be in his element now - after shipping costs then 15GBP minimum for each figure - not bad work if you can get it!

I think we're stuck with this crazy pricing for the forseeable. Some of it is basic economics - supply and demand, we're dealing with a finite resource and there's loads of new collectors driving the price up.

Some of it is also trend - the 'I need it now' brigade so they'll pay any price, and of course the way we buy and sell. FB has really been a driving force recently and will continue so get used to it.

A conversation we had at the latest meet up (piss up) was what was going to be the next area to see a price/interest rise. Personally, I think the non-toy vintage area will see a a sharp rise in interest, I've already noticed some stuff going for really good money that 6 months ago you would struggle to sell. Toys will always be popular but I'm sure we'll see a rise in popularity in this area.

I got tagged on a FS thread for a Wicket Trilogo in "meh" condition earlier today, bloke wanted almost £80 for it

Was so tempted to link to the thread on here when Scott sold his for £25!! However... I risked getting pounced on and banned so said nowt. lol

The stuff that gets sold on Facebook makes me think there will be a lot of half finished loose sets with no weapons being sold in the near future.

Not a lot of relevance gets sold on the really big groups anyway. All of the gold seems to be in the. I be groups which largely get ignored.

I'm sure that would have gone down well   (I at least got away with calling it common!)

Funny you should say that - there is a guy over here that does it regularly - his latest effort is $22.00 shipped for a Gaffi Stick and $15.00 shipped for a Tusken cape - just waiting for him to list up the naked Tuskens next

I have no doubt it has been happening with vehicles and complete figures for a long time. The solution is for people to stop buying incomplete figures, then people would stop doing it, but on the day 100 mugs paid £21 for a loose luke Jedi you realise that isn't going to happen anytime soon.
