This annoys me..

In my experience this fix only last a short time and then the white goes ..um ..even yellower :?

Tried it out with Hydrogen Peroxide. Does work but only last 12 months or so. Not worth the effort.

Best thing is to sell your yellow stuff to Todd and buy some minty white troopers with the cash

That's a relief :D I'm new to vintage Star Wars collecting, but not to antiques (for that, read: very low end antiques and reclamation finds... I've no Chippendale furniture in my possession)... and I've always grown up with the ideology that patina is good, that being: the history of the piece speaking to you in visual terms, and to correct it would de-value the item. That's my two-penneth.

As I've shown a few times this 'fad' may be new to star wars toys, but it's not new to retro gamers who have been doing it for years (including myself.) There has been proper scientific research in to it which if you're interested...
A fascinating read, Edd- looks like nothing can beat that fire retardant chemical ingredient into submission.

I have to humbly apologise as this is something I did a few years back for my own collection and yes it works but putting any kind of chemical onto the figures is tainting it's history for sure.

So sorry if I offended anyone when I did this.

Ham Xx
Don't beat yourself up over past misdemeanours, Ham- I've done far worse in my youth... believe me :D

I just had a whole conversation deleted on the FB group with a guy telling me a purple smock ugnaught is not sun faded...it's real.....and If I only did a little research........ H e must have decided my info was not helping his sale.

No.......you need to educate yourself......these purple smocks are real....just like green limbs chewie came out of the factory that way.

His best argument was "It's sealed in a bubble...so fading is impossible......do your research"

Surely dipping figures in bleach can't be good for them in the longer term. No doubt it gets them Persil white but it's pretty abrasive stuff!

I think the main problem is that people are doing this and then selling them on. 12months later you have a yellowed beater stormie army!

Todd... If you would like more educating I can explain to you about my DT "rainbow" saber variant that was only created as a one off special limited edition for Vader. Its MOC on an 1 back A... This was in George Lucas' private collection but as you all know the G Dawg and I are bestest buds so he gave it to me!

Yes, it is for sale...

Bunch more "Bleaching Stormies" posts to wake up to today boys! AJ is doing his best to tell them all to stop being retarded but it's not working lol

Can only imagine the amount of figures that have already been altered and sold on..bunch of twats. Posts about bleaching stormies should be outlawed Jason..just saying mate - it's not exactly a good thing to be happening is it? I know the group hasn't many rules for a reason but surely this is a step backwards rather than forwards and shouldn't really be encouraged? It's on the same lines as making reproductions and touching up figures etc at least IMO.

I fear for the future of our hobby I really do..so does Leia..

I'm in agreement with you on this one. Will add a new rule shortly.

Cheers Jason
