It's not Jason's fault his Facebook group attracts complete muppets but this **** boils my blood..

Cue a million pats on the back for bleaching his Stormtroopers back to minty white again..

****wits the lot of them.

and to think...I was on the hunt for the most yellow version available. The person asking for offers on there is driving me nuts as well.

Can of worms mate  Arguably it's just another form of restoration, and most are perfectly acceptable within the hobby such as pulling out bubble dents, removing price stickers etc. I agree it's probably more in line with ink touch ups which are frowned upon, but ultimately if people want to do something to their possessions, they're entitled to.

To be honest, and this isn't down to you Jase, you have my upmost respect and think its great your adding to the community.

But I left the group because of the amount of know nothing idiots. I know you have to start somewhere, but I found so many of the posters complete ****wits.

I way prefer the forum as a community and learning experience.

Lol Todd!

Edd, I totally get why it caught on I just think it's incredibly short sighted, I guess it's silly to worry about what people do with these toys but we never truly own anything in this hobby, we just look after things till the next owner comes along which is why I think altering something under the guise of "restoring" it is simply wrong :(

In another 5-10 years 90% of the loosies out there will have had some kind of chemical treatment to make them look like something they aren't..I just hope they all dissolve while in these wankers cabinets!

I left too actually as it was becoming mind numbing but like car crash tv I couldn't stop reading the absolutely tripe that was being spouted on a daily basis. I ended up rejoining because of someone alerting me to something for sale there..

Between the canadian Ledy expert who thinks a ledy cardback with bubble is only worth $50 annd people are dipshits....to all the these are rare...give me offers...to I love poon's bootlegs...yeah...........lots of relational breeding going on somwhere.

It could be worse, they could all be poontroopers. Or maybe that would be a good thing?

There's a lot of noobs in the group I'll give you that, but there are a lot of sensible and informative posts made on there as well. And we just hit 2000 members like 10 minutes ago!

:)

As I said Jason, not knocking you or the group. It's not your fault the majority of them are complete morons you just accept them and let them play in the sandpit you created.

I have to admit though, I am struggling to think of even 5 interesting discussions that took place in the last year on there :( It's all just people posting pics of their **** and getting "IS IT FOR SALE" messages within seconds or people talking out of their arses.

I've been on the boards for 10 years or so now and there have been plenty of idiots come and go but the FB group is something else..I had no idea there were that many clueless people out there who shared the same hobby as us!

Everyone has to start somewhere, and if they get back into or start in the hobby through finding the group then it's doing some good. And then some of them will convert into swfuk, TIG and rebelscum members and improve their knowledge further. So in summary, I think it does more good and than harm. Many of the members have said they only use facebook and would never post on a forum, so it's an outlet for them that they wouldn't otherwise have.

I could be more proactive in the discussions, but decided to take a handoffs approach to the group. I have stuck a few rules on there like no repros etc but prefer people to do their own admin using facebook controls to block content and users they don't want to see.

And I prefer my star wars discussions on here and rebelscum to a lesser extent to be honest.

:)

cheers Jason

And the star wars group is just the largest of many vintage star wars facebook groups out there. Even Karen Mcfarlane has her own one with a few hundred members since I booted her out of my group for the usual reasons. I'd rather have one of us in the driving seat than anyone else.

:)

Jason

Oh, and if you feel strongly about something going on in the group, feel free to wade in and educate!

:)

Jason

Theres a few members on here that are on Karens group.

Name and shame?

Of course not.................................

and Christmas is coming.

Could be a good opportunity for a Santa Bushpig on those lonely snowcrawler nights. :P

You'll be pleased to know that the reversal is in most cases only temporary. As I've shown a few times this 'fad' may be new to star wars toys, but it's not new to retro gamers who have been doing it for years (including myself.) There has been proper scientific research in to it which if you're interested, you can read about here:

http://www.amibay.com/showthread.php?t=44931

So as per the above thread, there is nothing anybody can do to remove the fire retardant chemical from the plastic, so if it has gone yellow in the past, it will again.

I have to humbly apologise as this is something I did a few years back for my own collection and yes it works but putting any kind of chemical onto the figures is tainting it's history for sure.

So sorry if I offended anyone when I did this.
