The war begins vs the repro MOCs!

Hey all,

Something has never ever sat right with me regarding the recent and tbh previous MOC repoductions, now if a seller was advertising Fake lacoste,armani,gucci ect ect then they are quickly taken down by Ebay due to copyright infringement...... And when a seller says "Professionally recarded yada yada" then that is no different then selling fake clothes.

Now I always check through the "Fakes" ect ect, but how many of us have actually reported each auction to Ebay for copyright infringement?

So how about each and everytime someone notices one of these auctions it is listed here, and we each report the auction to ebay and see what happens? Worthwhile posting on each auction who has reported it to ebay.

If you guys have time ( it takes 1 minute ) please keep reporting his stuff to ebay. Perhaps one day he'll finally get banned.

I have noticed that some items have been removed once reported - so all might not be in vain - would be funny to watch them all go up and come back down again :lol:

I used to do this. There was one of these guys who constantly sold his **** on ebay. I reported him several times over the course of months. They never took his auctions down. I emailed ebay customer support and asked them why he was allowed to sell his fakes, while other were shut down immediately. There answer "Like 100's of people speeding down a highway, the police can only pull over and ticket so many of them at a time." This was and still is one of the bigger and better repro sellers moving high volumes....................so in other words, here is my interpretation of the ebay answer "We only go after low volume sellers, this guy generates a good amount funds for us........so go **** yourself"

Yep - I totally agree, but ebay dont give a ****, :evil: as long as they are getting their cash......

If no-one else has suggested this i would say that only the copyright holder can complain for misuse of the Star Wars branding or misrepresentation. The fakes/recards i've seen on Ebay have largely been sold as 'recarded/reproduction' etc. As far as i'm aware Trading Standards and Ebay could do very little about this as the listings are titled accordingly. Only the copyright holder, i.e George Lucas/Lucasfilm/Kenner, could make a complaint that might result in serious action being taken. And let's face it, that's unlikely to happen if it hasn't happened already.

The sellers who are clearly misleading people into buying fake items might fall under a different bracket. They are the ones who run the risk of prosecution by Trading Standdards who don't need an actual complainant in order to take action.

So what is this seller doing wrong? He clarely states in the listing it's a cut down Kenobi cape. Yes the listing is 'creatively' titled but nothing that isn't true,. It is original Kenner material that could be used for a VCJ.

Maybe someone could enlighten me
