I hear that, there aren't many older models I regret missing but the sail barge was one and the gunship another (imperial shuttle and star destroyer being the other two) so I was grabbing this no questions.
It'll be around a while so no rush but actually it is well priced for licenced models, the figures look great and the design in nice, far better to get this one than fork out the £200+ for the old one :)

It might be a while before i get to build these (some major space issues at home) but these lovely spanky new Lego models arrived today....
I missed out on both of these a few years ago so there was no way i was this time out. at some point i am going to revise my Jabbas Palace build and try to set it up so i get the palace, Rancor Pit, Sarlacc and barges all in a single display (Probably when my wife divorces me and I am living in a bedsit somewhere with only my Lego and toys for company :) )

Roll on Ewok Village now.

Great additions Matt.

Post some pic's when you get the 'whole Jabba scene' finished. Space is an issue for me as well. I might get the barge it depends on finances as well as space at the moment. I just love the mini fig of Max Rebo 8)

hey monkey, you get that set from the usa i take it? whens the uk release date i wonder how much its gonna be?

Hey Ponchobelt, no these are all on S&H on the UK website and I guess in lego stores now, not the cheapest sets, the barge is £99 and the gunship £109, I had a few VIP points to soften the blow and the free Jor El MiniFigs is worth a purchase this month.

If you like a bit of clone wars as well there are some cracking new sets in this wave, I will grab the mandi speeder later in the year and probably the yoda/dooku and maybe the set with Jango Fett in it just for the figures.

Remembered i said i would throw up an image of the Ewok Village for those who are not click friendly :)
Here it is in all its £199.99 glory (1st September release date)

Finally some Lego creations to post. I have two here, both still works in progress fo sorts.
The First is classic SW. A few posts back I showed my in progress Jabbas Palace in an attempt to more accurately combine the two current Lego sets (9516 & 75005) in fact there are 2 Rancor sets being used here, well one and half technically. From my first images you can see i tried building a complete shell and creating a more substantial palace and surrounding cliffs, but what that meant was very little of the sub structure could be seen and even less interacted with and the entire thing was too big, too heavy and unmanageable so instead i looked at just expanding and altering the Rancor sets so the gate moved to the front so it still worked, a larger base was added to the top for the palace to sit on and an extra wing added for the droid torture area. I need to add in more droids (just the one being tortured right now) and a few details and add back the figures etc but I think this is more of a Lego model than the first effort. The idea is to display this with the New Sail Barge and Skiff sets – at least until the wife says put it all away…

The second set is just figures right now. I am planning on building micro-scenes for these guys but they are my attempt (and some bits I have had custom painted – a first for me and Lego) at Discworld figures.
Left to right, top to bottom we have:
The Luggage, Rincewind, Death, Susan, Granny Weatherwax (With Grebo), The Librarian (Custom paint job through firestartoys), Lord Vetinri, Sam Vims (With Dragon) and a Group shot.

I am also working on a sub structure for the recent Yoda/Dooku set from Attack of the Clones, but might give that up in favour of doing the small Discworld sets.

Anyway – Enjoy.

Hey guys, posted a lot of dismantled hoth lego sets in the trade section, broken up wampa cave, echo base, and the rebel trooper and snow trooper packs. Just thought i'd post and say.

Also will be posting some complete superheroes lots, I have the x-men chopper showdown, avengers captain americas avenging cycle set, the two promotional avengers sets with thor and hawk eye and also the batman cat woman and cat cycle set if anyones interested.

Ive taken to collecting only the older star wars lego, stuff I had as a kid, so don't really want any of this stuff now, and also vintage star wars figs. :)

got to this little scene together sooner than i thought as i was on my own tonight - One very nice sail barge added to the Jabba Scene.
A couple of things to note.
1 - the printing on the new Leia is stunning. You may not see it clearly in the image but the older Leia is in the Jabba's Palace Scene and the new on the Sail Barge, big difference and the new hair peice rocks...
2 - While i never owned the old barge i am not going to be knocking the new one, the proportions are fine, any bigger and it isn't playable with really, the detail is good, not stellar but more than fine for this sort of model and even the much maligned nose works fine in the real build.

I would say that one or two extra figures would have been great, a 3PO would be nice but easy enough to add.

As i think this will be the last time TLG visits Jabba's world for a very long time it is great to be able to put together a run of sets that gives us the palace, pit and barge - love it.

I want the original jabbas palace as I wanted it when I was younger. A guy was selling it buy it now on ebay for forty quid, I thought 'sweet, roll on payday'. Then it said item had been canceled and relished, as buy it now £90. Doesn't matter! Can keep it for that!

Does the value of stuff drop after more modern better versions come out? I always wanted an AT-ST, the one with chewbacca in it. It used to go for quite a bit, but since better versions have come out, you can get it for under a tenner.

^ generally no. The 'vintage' Lego sets don't tend to drop in price. It is hard to say exactly, there is a hardcore of sets that have spiked in value, The original Jabbas Palace is one, especially if the two clip on sets are part of the deal.

Where there are reissues there are some dips but on the whole the older sets are so different that it doesn't matter. There are a few exception, I suspect the new republic gunship will bring the older one down a bit as they are close together in terms of release date. But the two Jabba's Palaces are 10 years apart and the original had vintage yellow figs etc. to be honest £90 is still an OK price, I have seen boxed versions of that one go for hundreds. There is a low bid one on ebay right now as well as another £85 BIN one.

Sadly the SW Lego after market is not a cheap place to play, mind you nor are the current lines :)

Quick on the heals of some SW lego i am back off topic again :)

One of my biggest Loves are the Discworld Novels and over the years i have oftain pondered on how to translate them into Lego and never quite worked it out.... Until now.

There were two steps to this:

1st - The figures. For the most part these are all standard Lego parts mixed and matched to create unique figures. There were a few custom bits needed and I sourced these through firestartoys, namely the orange paint job on the Librarian, Rincewind's Red hat and Susan's white hear.

2nd - The locations. I really wanted to keep the builds 'micro' sized, 8x6 max and had this idea that each could stand on its own or be linked modular style to another to build out a larger display, which left me working out what was the most iconic location and figure combination I could realistically create.

And so we got:

Granny Weatherwax with Grebo (technically not her cat by hey) in a 'Classic' witches setting
Death and Susan in the black and white bathroom in deaths house
Rincewind and the Luggage on their travels somewhere on the disc
Samual Vims on patrol in Ank-Morpork
Lord Vetinary at his desk
The Librarian in the Unseen University Library

ooh is it out now??? where did you pick it up?

hope the Portal set gets green lit!! its under review at the mo....

Hey
I grabbed it from the Stratford Westfield store at lunch. Turns out that the UK stores are now selling it as a nod to customers because it is being sold at comic con this weekend :)

Just built it. It took a few hours, which for a set this size says something. Build is good and the finished car is great. The figs are fantastic I cannot recommended this one enough, it is great...

OK - On demand..,
The set is better than it looks, it provides enough parts and instructions to adapt the car to each of the three film. I have it in Part 3 mode right now as i think that is the best look, love the red wheels and the bonet box :)
Enjoy

8) Yeah that rocks my world 8) looks ace :)

Are there limited stocks then? Tell me all that you know about availability please :D

I don't think the stock is limited.
The official sale date is 1st aug and it will be on the lego shop at home website and all brand stores. This one should be easy to pick up. It is a Cuusoo model so I don't know how long it will be on sale but the last Cuusoo model (Mincraft) is still about 6 months after release and in fact Lego announced at comic con today they are now turning it into a line with 2 new models.

I wouldn't panic, if you can't get to a store order online in Aug.

i shall definitely be picking this up at some point in the future. though you have left me penniless Matt.... :)

Will be at toys r us tomorrow so will be on the look out :)

Mumbo - You won't get this at toysrus (at least right now) this is a Lego exlusive so only from their own bricks and mortar stores or their website. Basically Shephards Bush or Stratfford (Westfields) in London or online from the 1st Aug.
