The curious incident of the new Ebay ratings

Are these new ratings on Ebay, the ones that let you rate how well a seller/buyer did on communication P&P etc, not supposed to be withheld from the other party?

Reason I ask, I just got an email from CC asking me why I didn't give them 5 stars for P&P :? (it was because I hit the wrong button, I've never actually had a problem with their P&P charges, or any of their service for that matter). I was just surprised that they knew I had only given them 4 stars, it was news to me for a start! :lol:
Are these things not supposed to be anonymous?

I didn't mind CC emailing me, (1) because I've never had any problems with any purchase from them (in fact I'd say they are about the best out there), and (2) because they wanted to know why I hadn't given them 5 stars so they could improve next time.

I was just under the impression they wouldn't be able to tell what score I had given them. Surely the amount of business those guys do, one person giving them 4 out of 5 (by mistake in my case) isn't going to affect the overall total by a noticeable amount, is it?

I thought it was anonymous as well. Wasn't that the whole idea of ebay starting it? :?

You could imagine leaving someone a positive but one or two stars on say 'communication' and them getting ratty and leaving you a neg for it if they knew who'd done it. Maybe its just in the US where they can see it?

Maybe ask them how they knew it was you.

They are confidential so i dont know how they knew it was you. A 4 star rating should make no noticable diffeerence to their overall rating. If someone really overchcarges me for postage i will quite happily leave 2 stars , and even that doesnt alter their rating. I think something fishy is going on there.

Quite tempted to ask how they knew it was me. Especially given as it was a 4 star rating and those guys must get dozens of feedback scores everyday.

I'm the same Twofoot, I've left 1 star ratings for P&P before, if they are gonna take the piss I aint gonna say the P&P was good value.

The only legitimate way it might happen, is if they happened to look at their score immediately after you left feedback, and noticed that their score had dropped.

It would be a bit coincidental though, unless you were the only person to leave feedback on that day?

No, I wasn't the only one who left Feedback that day. They were able to tell me I had given them 5 stars in the other categories so I really don't know how the **** they knew. I'm gonna ask the guy see what he says!

maybe theres a code crack about or summat so they can see hidden details
