I was lucky enough recently to get an excellent trade for a Takara alternate sculpt MOC C3PO graded 85/85/90. I was delighted to get it and was really looking forward to adding it to my MOC Takara 12 back collection. Unfortunately while in transit the bubble came completely away from the card. I knew the minute I picked up the package I had a problem as I could hear rattling inside the box and graded MOCs are not meant to rattle

Anyway I now have this former 85 beauty that I am unsure what to do with.
I am considering getting it loose graded. I assume it would get a U85/90 as it's mint and on this one occasion I think it can be agreed that u grading is ok. I am not crazy for grading and own very few graded items, especially loose, however in this scenario it may not be a bad option.

Other option I'm considering is resealing to the card as the card and bubble are beauties. Only thing is I really didn't want any reseals in my collection, but may make the exception in this instance.

I already have a loose Takara c3po from a recentl Takara alt sculpt find. Condition is poor in comparison to this but fine for me, so I have no need for another loose one.

So let me know your thoughts on this unfortunate issue. Although I think I can guess what the general consensus will be, I would still love to hear your opinions.

Cheers :)

Man that really sucks :(

That's quite a hard bubble to reseal as it looks like it's a bubble sealing fail and with no paper attached to the bubble you'll see the glue if attached. I've got a 20 back Palitoy Wally that's similar although it's still attached (but only by a thread). The one way I thought of putting it back together was to use a Top loader and trim very neatly around where the bubble is. This would mean it would display well without causing any further damage to the card back and bubble. It's maybe a good solution for you as you already have a sealed loose example and this could still look good in your focus. It's either that or sell it for what you can as is and wait for another sealed one.

Whatever you end up doing it's a real shame that it arrived this way but maybe you can still make good of it in some way.

Agreed, the key factor is you know this is a bona fide piece, and has only happened due to bad luck.
Great advice with the Top Loader, keep and display with pride :D

Sorry to hear this happend as it looked like an awesome moc.
Unfortunatly that id always the risk with graded moc, and i am sure lots off more Moc's Will be destroyed in the future because they are AFA graded.... Preserve... My ass.

Anyway not to derail, best thing for you would be the toploader method as described, do you have a snug fitting toploader? I think i have only 1 lying around somewhere, if you decide to go for that method and don't have one, you can have it for Free.

They should some minimal support around the bubble when grading, then this wouldn't happen.

Thanks for all the thoughts and input guys. Great to hear other peoples opinions. Yes it was an unfortunate incident but one that's always possible with graded items

Many thanks for the offer of the top loader stargeezer. Never used them before. I will have a look into them and may get in touch when I finally decide what to do with this one :!:

Nightmare!

Awful to see a nice MOC like that fall apart.

Was it well enough packaged and just rank bad luck? If so, assuming the item was insured I'd still be claiming from the PO.

It was very well packed, however the afa report that accompanied it did note slight lifting to the right side of the bubble. This coupled with the relatively spacious bubble C3PO has led to bubble completely lifting. Unfortunately no come back from insurance as I had requested the value to be under declared due to Ireland's ludicrous and random customs and import charges

That sucks, sorry to hear that.

I've been after a loose one of these for a while, missed 2 on ebay

Anyone know what a loose one is worth, not looking for graded.

Gutted for you mate. He's a beaut.
Toploader is a good idea. Such a shame
