STAND ALONE MOVIES

I know there have been some announcements last couple of days regarding the stand alone movies and I'm sure everyone has seen suggested characters that have been banded around as the main character.

What I was wondering is who everyone would like to see a stand alone movie based on. Not who you think they will be based on but who you'd be interested in seeing.

I'd like to see a IG88, Greedo or Jabba movie but doubt any of these will get one.

I think the obvious choice is Fett.
I'd like to see a young HanSolo film over a Yoda one.

I would imagine a fett and a solo one are both pretty certainties wouldn't you? I'd just like to see a few of the minor characters who have smaller screen time get a movie.

Def Fett, and Han....but the Wookie/Han storyline would be good, background on Chewie

Bounty hunter spin off on the Bounty hunters giving all of their back stories.

Please god not a Yoda only movie. That SOOOOOO wouldn't work. I love Yoda but, no!

Fett is the obvious choice as others have said and i think if it was done as a slightly more grown up movie (i'd prefer much more grown up but, well.. it's Disney) then it could be pretty good.

I could see doing a Han and Chewie movie. Lots of capers, villains and hijinks. Would be a tough casting job. We don't want another Anakin Skywalker disaster.

ewoks..................

what am i on about the caravan of courage and battle for endor are classics and cannot be beaten

A fett movie, but one that ties in around the time that leia is taken by Jabba. That story already exists. Ok so its not exactly stand alone but the references and character cameos would be cool - Jabba, IG88, lando. If memory serves fett kills IG88 leaving cloud city 8)

I would like to see a movie based on FX-7, and focus on the plight his parents had in getting a droid through med school.

The Emperors youth would be a good stand alone, how he learned all his powers & then betrayed is master.

Just read a very long winded and very assumptive piece referencing GLucas original writings and storyline s

The pivotal point being Sidious having his conversation with Anakin ref his dreams and his dangling of the carrot ......immortality ( anakin Padme)

Palpatine: Did you ever hear the Tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise?
Anakin: No.
Palpatine: I thought not. It's not a story the Jedi would tell you. It's a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith so powerful and so wise, he could use the Force to influence the midi-chlorians to create...life. He had such a knowledge of the Dark Side, he could even keep the ones he cared about...from dying.
Anakin: He could actually...save people from death?
Palpatine: The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural.
Anakin: What happened to him?
Palpatine: He became so powerful, the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power...which, eventually of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew. Then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from death...but not himself.
Anakin: Is it possible to learn this power?
Palpatine: Not from a Jedi.

So.....this led to Anakin s turn to the Dark Side.....

But this is a key link to the whole Sith dark V light

So the Palpatine back story with Plagueis...could be a key point for the dark character for the new film. ( played by Max Von Sydow....or as mooted, maybe his voice for a latexed up character).

Any way Frank, maybe the Palpatine backstory is a key point for the main movie, as opposed to the spin off?

Seems there are only a small handful of characters who are worthy of a spin off movie. I could definitely see an emperor storyline about his early days training and then infiltrating the political world.

...Mike. what were you doing up at 5am?

Yes I know

Our dog has started having fits, and he woke me up about 4:30, we've had him from a pup, so he gets very pampered

Think the Fett spin off is an absolute definite.

But I'm intrigued by the Plagueis back story, the link of immortality being something both he and Qui G were seeking at the same time. There are a few bits and pieces I've read that all seem to point in that direction, but in the main film as opposed to a spin off.

I also have a feeling that a spin off of Rougue Squadron may be on the books.

I'd love to see something on Fett (though with the original voice) and Jabba (not like in TPM though)

But I think who we all really want as the main character is Lumpy!!

All good choices, and interesting post mike, yeah the backstory there would be interesting to see.
I'd like a standalone vader movie, mopping up the last of the jedi, and generally being his evil self, i love vader and don't think the end of sith did him any justice really

fett's story has been done, surely. Also we know hows he's born, and how he dies, so there's little left for dramatic storylines unless they have him escaping the sarlacc and I would love to see his digesting body being excavated from a sarlacc. He's going to be digested over 1000 years, so there's plenty of opportunity for slave 1 on remote to come blast him out of there. Or the destruction of Jabba's barge wounds/kills the sarlacc, he climbs from its fleshy remains along with a couple of skiff guards (Klaatu hopefully becomes his sidekick for a while) I like the paul bateman premise.. so would add to that he escapes the sarlacc, as he's got out, recovers gets ready to rumble again, somebody kills him and takes on his persona adding the mystery back to the character and gets rid of all that clone ****.

The mopping up of Jedi is being covered in Rebels...

Disney are pointing to OT themes.. so thankfully rules out anything stupid like binks, etc.

Isn't there an EU story telling us how Fett escaped the Sarlacc Pit?

A Jabba storyline would be of huge interest and it could tie in so many other characters. There could probably be an entire series in it. The only thing with this is the sheer mechanics of how Jabba gets about. I imagine this would be very slowly making a dedicated film quite dull and expensive. From what i've seen he's not the most dynamic of chaps. For such an apparently un-evolved character it makes me wonder how the Hutts became powerful at all. More for the stories I guess.

Tales of Jabba might lend themselves more to another animated series.
