Squid Head armour?

Hello all, first time poster here.

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place but I hope you can help me.

I'm getting my old collection in order and have found my Squid Head figure has a grey rubber chest plate instead of the silver belt that I can see everywhere else on the web:

It buckles up at the back.

Just wondering if this is a variant that anyone else recognises or if I swapped it from another figure when I was a kid? I can't see that on any other figure.
