Sports funnies

PS, You think RVP will stay? I still think it's very much up in the air. I wouldn't blame him for leaving, and if he does you are in big big trouble! Look at the % of your goals he scores, you'll be next season's Liverpool! Lol

I think he probably will, but if he didn't someone would replace him - they said we were doomed when vierra left, when Henry left and when fabregas left. Not much to show for it but top 4 every year, is hardly doomed

The reliance on van Persie is a bit skewed as he is essentially a target man for two very fast wingers. If he wasn't scoring a lot there would be something very wrong. The bonus is he can score from nothing too

I reckon even suarez would score in Arsenals system

Question for you two then, is Kenny past it or do you think the likes of downing and Carroll will come good next year.

Personally I've never rated downing but I thought Carroll would come good. Hate to say it but I think the current team has too many English journeymen

Kenny is well past it. Most people (that is to say everyone except Liverpool fans) knew this before he took over there. I remember laughing about the whole "King Kenny" thing when they got him thinking "yeah, we'll see..."
Carrol will come good at some point but he'll never be an amazing striker. Downing is the same as he's always been. I don't see that changing.

I'd be amazed if Kenny is still at Liverpool by Christmas... the whole Suarez saga really didn't help him and tbh he went down in my estimations after that.

Interesting about Downing though... I would say that he was Villa's best player last season and I was more gutted to see him go over Young, but for £20 million  I thought it was good business for the club.

Carroll though  £35 million for a player who hadn't even played a full season in the Premier League. I'm still laughing at that one! Will he come good... I hope not

i dont think kenny is the long term solution, he was the right choice to bring us out of the slump, only due to his status, bringing the fans together ect.

His buys have been average, suarez, enrique, and carroll i think are ok, Henderson is cack and he only starts because kenny is trying to justify the 20mil he spent on him.

Carroll is a good player but a team needs to play to his strengths, its only the price tag that makes him ****, and liverpool had 50million and 2 weeks to buy a striker so ill let them off with that.

its going to be a big few months for kenny, the cobwebs cant be blamed, two cup finals will paper over the cracks for now.

but i can see kenny taking the director of football post that comolli was scapegoted out of...and maybe rafa coming back or something if it starts to go wrong.

Liverpools season can take a huge turn for the worst, if we lose the final and drop to say 14th.....he would have to go.

But win the fa cup and finish 6th...that will buy him next season.

I think this is where we decend into semantics. Is your definition of "doomed" relegation/mid table obscurity, or is it not challenging for the league. Personally, I dont think Arsenal have been the same since Vierra left. Him going started the dismanteling of the invincibles amd whilst they remain a very good side, they don't scare other clubs like they did then, and they certainly haven't challenged for the league like they did.

As for Liverpool. I was unsure when Kenny was appointed, 15 years (or however long he was out for) is a long time to be out of the management game and even now I'm still not sure what to make of him. Some of his tactical decisions have been brilliant, playing 3 at the back against.......ehhh someone, I forget who lol, worked a treat and won us the game. But other times I'm left scratching my head and wondering quite WTF he is thinking and why he doesn't make changes sooner.
I agree about Downing, he was good at Villa last year and has been firing in a good few crosses this year, but no league goals or assist is a damming indictment of a winger!
Henderson looked promising at Sunderland but never looked a 20 million quid player and this year at times has looked like a fish out of water.

Carroll is the same as Torres, a player stuck at a club that doesn't play in a style that suits him, in fact, quite the opposite. It's no ****ing wonder both have struggled.

It's a strange one, I don't think sacking/moving KK will achieve much, the club doesn't really need ANOTHER set of new ideas after having 3 managers in 2 years, but at the same I'm still not convinced that they are making progress under Kenny. Stopping the rot that set in under "uncle woy" is not the same as progress.
Granted squad overhauls take time, and ours needed/needs a major overhauld, but how long is 'long enough/time for someone else'?

Vieira leaving also coincided with Chelsea's oil millions, which is more the reason Arsenal fell away. 1st or 2nd every year until then. Now City have the cash too its sad to say a good season for Arsenal and the other also rans is making top four - hence not doomed.

The problem with the cash isn't so much one team buying the best players, but it makes all players more expensive and expect higher wages, that's where Arsenal have struggled but in 5-10 years or so once the stadium is well on its way to being paid off they should be able to compete more on the wages front. All a bit depressing in the meantime.

I see Spurs and Liverpool's struggling for longer because they've not moved stadiums yet. But you never know what's round the corner and another oil magnate could end up buying any one of the clubs and skew the picture a bit more.

I have been genuinely impressed by Spurs this year for keeping up with the Manchester teams for so long, and in 2009 and 2011 when Arsenal were either leading or just off the pace until their Spring collapses. Its what makes football great (apart form the collapsing part), likewise who'd have thought the Chelsea pensioners would have got a result last night.

Oh, Ha-****ing-Ha. It's meant to be sport funnies, not a god damn football debate. :D

Okay. Carry on your debate now

Joshy, do you know like our football debates!?

Spoons, I agree about the Chelsea thing affecting Arsenal (and laterly the City money bags doing the same).
Although, do Arsenal not have the third highest wage bill in the PL!?
Diaby has just signed a new contract for 50k a week! Surely to christ if ever a player should have been on a 'pay as you play' deal it's him!?

Apologies Josh - watch my link again that should cheer you up

Couldn't agree more Weasel, diaby arrived with Adebayor

Shame that Mackem thug broke his ankle in his first year, and hes never really recovered

As to the wage bill, imagine what Denilson and Almunia are on

LOL...not including spoons then. He is still a funny guy. Everyone else is lame

And just to derail the thread a little more.
If this don't make you laugh...nothing will!

Lucky he landed on the table, which then collapsed.Think he would of been rooted otherwise.
