I just recieved a molded face Taiwan luke jedi with snap cape :)

since its the first one ive managed to catch i need to ask a few questions

1 should the stitching on the popper be the same on both poppers? my one here has the right one the same colour thread as the cape but the left one is stitched on with dark brown thread...

2 this version DIDNT come with blue saber ever? just green?

3 should it have grey or brown palace blaster?

cheers

ill drop a photo here of the stitching when i get chance if it helps

have been very suspect about snap capes.so easy to fake.if you have not got one thats of a card to compare how can you tell.go to any market and root through odds and ends boxs at the craft stalls and there are loads of the studs there ,many dating way back.
mine has brown stitching on both, gray around cape.on the stud it has a *and 3 5's silver in colour, the ends have been very neatly tied off leaving about 4to5 mm after knot .i know the true origin of mine.as we know these were made in several places so they could have used different suppliers.
i would'nt get one of ebay for the above reasons

i have a supermacro pic but cant post it till i get home and grab it off my camera

will post it up later

1. Should be the same stitching, but you never know (could have been repaired..)

2. Green saber

3. Grey blaster

Lets see the pics

There's a very long and boring thread on Luke Jedi's weapon and cape combinations on RS so I would read that for any info you need !!

Well I'm sure Gustie has commented in that RS thread anyway, he seems to get involved in most of them !! :p

yeah a bit like you lol
You've done 100 more posts in one year on RS than I have managed in two years there and most of mine have been in a wrestling thread !!

As for the stitching on the cape it's difficult to say but the thread on the poppers is prone to coming loose over time if you're not carful when "un-popping" so it's possible someone has sown it back on.

Whilst we are on the subject, is there an idiot proof way to tell if a cape is originally sewn, rather than a press stud cape that has been sewn together to repair it (rather than repair a missing stud)?

If it comes with a moulded face Luke, a green sabre and a grey blaster you should be fine

if it doesn't, chances are its a fake

heres a pic...

looks like a repair job to me.the stiching on right is the same as mine, same colour.the one on left has been stiched in a different hole combination.studs look original

could u post urs?

do u think its a fake altogether or its a proper one repaired?

and also as elliott says is there any way to tell by the cut of the fabric or anything to tell if ones a fake or not?

just think it,s a repair job.will have a bash at a close up of mine, dont think i can get real close in tho

cheers bollux

i just looked at the right popper - it has a number 5 stamped on it and a star on the opposite side

is yours like that?

the female side has a 1 or an I on oneside and O or 0 on the other side of the hole

the male popper has nothing

ta mate

i guess they used several manufactuers for the poppers

who knows -

i will compare the actual cape for elliott and see if its cut differently to accomodate the popper or anything, would be good to find a sure fire way of missing the fake ones..
