Its madness considering you could buy a carded AFA 85 example for less....

Grant.

lol no mate, its an absolute joke even to concider paying that for a loose figure.

biggest fool is the person that pays it though

"biggest fool is the person that pays it though" I'm trying to think up a way to get some of the fool's money- create 100 S.W.F.U.K. clear boxes and sell them off as rarer than AFA? Supposedly a fool and his money are easily seperated- I want some extra pocket money :)

I think you will find guys it isn't just people getting U graded collections together destroying MOC's! SOME people who are putting together ungraded loose sets do the same! I understand it is not to the same degree, one would hope, but it's happening with out a doubt!

Your absolutely right Josh.

However somebody opening a MOC for a mint ungraded figure is only gonna pull him from a genuine beater cheap as chips card as in most cases as anything else is just not worth it financially.

The problem with U grades is they will potentially destroy a AFA silver or even an AFA gold grade MOC (i.e AFA 85) in the pursuit of a U90 because if they hit the U90 jackpot then there is too much money to be made out of the label collectors

Its got a "U" grade.. does that mean the droid factory was opened and the R2 assembled by AFA just for one figure?

Joe,

I know Chris very well and the Droid Factory R2 came from an open set with possible sealed innards.
Not many people would burst open a MISB playset for an R2.
Grant.

Not many but possibly one person

Well thanks for clearing it up Grant, I guess its a lesser evil than a high grade moc or a MISB playset.

But an evil nonetheless.

Indeed its just a minor crime in the grand scheme of things, but who knows, once someone shows off a U85 three legged R2 the next person will want a U95 and so on ...

Exactly
It's called herd mentality :(

My friend Chris would not dream of opening a closed set or any MOCs for any U grade. Some others might but not this guy. He feels the exact same about Ugrades as the rest of us so theres no need to worry about that. I have traded hundreds of emails with Chris P about collecting in general and Ugrades has been discussed many times and we both feel the same about them. He just wanted a three legged R2 and had an old open set with some sealed bags of the little droids that came along with the set.

Thanks again lads.

Grant.

I would have to agree, but not banned completely. In my opinion the U grade should have only been reserved for when an item is graded that came from a sealed shipping case. That would also put more of a premium on the U grade and in my opinion make graded figures with the U grade much more desirable, so instead of seeing a U grade loose vinyl Jawa you get a U graded carded vinyl Jawa that you know came from a factory sealed case of figures. That way the figure is still carded preserving an excellent piece of Star Wars history and keeping a premium on U graded stuff.

I like the idea, things should only be U graded this way. I am relatively new to collecting but already I cringe when I hear about some of the carded figures that get murdered.... for what? A little plastic case? lmao Whats wrong with the one its on!

Seriously Chaz? If thery wanna bust a MISB Droid Playset to get a U graded 3 legged R2 then they are just a selish wasteful little prick in my book.

But why would you want to do that if you can do it like the other guy apparently did?
