Just wondering if anybody else here has read this book. I was always a fan of the N64 game, but had never read the book, so decided to read it on holiday.

I was very impressed with it. As far as I know, it's the only novel set during the time of the original 3 films, so a lot of the characters and events are familiar. The story is decent, the new characters fit quite well, and apart from a slightly anti-climax of an ending, it kept me pretty interested throughout.

I've only read one other Star Wars novel, and although I thought it was OK, the story was a bit far fetched (even by Star Wars standards) and a lot of the writing was very cringe-worthy - a bit like Episodes 1-3, trying too hard to include nerdy phrases.

I'd definitely recommend it if you haven't read it. Disney could do a lot worse than make a movie of it next!

I've read it. A good read although Steve Perry obviously has a sex problem. Prince Xizor appears in a few novels and comic tie-ins. There are other novels and short stories set in that time frame, splinter of the mind's eye comes to mind and was written before ESB so is an interesting novel!

Loved Shadows of the Empire but have to say I didn't like Splinter of the minds eye

Some of the New Jedi Order books are decent

Day off today so went and dug it out to read it again. Only picked it up a couple of years ago and was just so glad to be in the SW universe again, never really got into EU but this "proper" star wars for me. Great book

Was about to say, never read the novel but I have read the Graphic Novel and the sequel Evelotions. Both great reads, very enjoyable.
