As a serious collector i strive for perfection or the best i can find and i replace stuff often what is the opinion on touching up boxes with marker pens or acrylic paint ? i know they look good but what is others opinion on this iv only done it to two star wars boxes An Ewok Village and a jigsaw box i always feel a little bit guilty doing it i feel like i am maybe making matters worse?

ps i dont use marker pens i use a special pen used for touching up black furniture it blends beautifully .

there is the box as it was just slightly aged with scuffing and storage was it needing touched up or am i being fussy?

whats a serous collector ?

I think you'll find most collectors are against touch ups to anything (apart from themslves maybe  )

The items are yours to do with as you want but there are too many people out there looking to scam - you might sell an item and tell the buyer you have touched it up - but as it goes down the chain - how honest will people be ?

I guess if you are going to keep it forever then it is more acceptable - but how many of us keep all of the items in their collection forever - money problems or the oppertunity to up grade could mean that you have to sell the item anyway

What's an oppertunity?

Iain nailed it pretty much on what the general consensus is.

oppertunity? is the same as serous lol opportunity to correct the spelling error lol

Damn I should have run that through a spell checker if I am going to be a smart arse on other peoples spelling !

I HATE touch ups. I've been a victim of a seller who neglected to tell me about it a few times.

I cant stand marks on my things, I got the special premier collect book from brianstoys a few years back and one of the corners had a crease so i cut the corner just so there would be no crease lol

If you ink something though and sell it without the buyer knowing, they might think its in such pristine condition that they will send it to afa and then it will be disqualified.

I expect many ppl have inked items in their collection but dont know

Snap I just hate little marks or scuffing on boxes makes me depressed and i will try and fix them but on the other hand i dont want to cover my prized collectibles with black markers or acrylic paint or similar basically I WANT PERFECTION FROM 30+ year old toys lol HA! HA! HA! :p
