Hey all,
Me again with another restoration project.
This time round a pretty nasty Scout Walker box with loads of fairly recent sellotape applies and some significant rips and crushing.
I used lighter fluid to remove the sellotape and the residue left behind. Once this was removed the box could be flattened and then cleaned with warm soapy water and more lighter fluid. Liberal use of the iron was then used on the back of the ox to flatten it out.
This time round I tried something I hadn't before, spraying a small amount of water onto the back of the box to soften it up then I hit it hard with a medium heat iron to really flatten some of the major creases out. I was worried that using water might damage the box but it worked a treat, then used a heavy book to keep the card flat as it cooled down.
I used a UHU type glue to start to repair the tears and to reattached the lid of the box.
I hope you like the results, it's cool to be able to take a knackered box and bring it back to life, whilst it's not perfect I think it's shitloads better than it was.
I have a few more boxes to go out so I will be sure to post the results once done.
Cheers
Gary
All the tape that came off it!
Once all the tape was removed
