A galaxy far, far away...
Hi guys,

I was contacted last night from a guy called Alex Osbourne selling a MISB Falcon which is sealed in an acrylic case. He also says he has some other boxed stuff.

He says he is in the Isle of Man, has sold many times and is an experienced buyer and seller, he offers it to me for £300 delivered via Parcelforce... Alarm bell rings!!

I ask for pics and get them, I asked him if I could have overnight to think about an offer. Whilst doing my research I find this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Star-Wars-Millennium-Falcon-1977-MISB-Factory-Sealed-/161126952117?pt=UK_Collectables_SciFi_fantasyCollectables_EH&hash=item2583ea2cb5

Listed by a business seller called Kevin Borra who lives in Devon... Second alarm bell!!

I asked Liam if he could contact the seller to make double sure which is when I found the details at the bottom...

OBVIOUSLY NOW I KNOW HE IS A SCAM ARTIST TRYING TO CON ME... I AM LIVID!!

I send him this:

"Hi Alex,

Sorry buddy, I don't wanna be a pain but could you send me a close up pic of the seals at either end with it out of the acrylic.

Once I have these, my mind will be at rest. I'm just overly cautious at the moment as I have been ripped off recently by a guy advertising images that aren't his. I paid and then heard nothing.

I hope you understand.

Once I have these then I will be happy to pay, could you please invoice with exact descriptions of each item.

Thanks again,

Bram"

His response comes back a little more serious cos he called me "Bramwell"... Usually means I am in trouble.

"Hi Bramwell

I can guarantee that is has never been opened.

The photos were taken before the item was stored.

These are the only photos I have.

As you can see it's sealed in a nice Acrylic case.

I am genuine and have sold many Star Wars Vintage sets.

You are fully protected by PayPal should you have any issues.

Regards"

NOW THAT I AM SURE THAT IT IS ALL A CON I SEND HIM THIS TO TEASE HIM IN!!

"Hi mate.

I didn't realise it was sealed in the acrylic case. Sorry.

In that case, do you think we could both save ourselves some money?

If I send it as a GIFT then it will save 4%. Which means I could send just £385 and you would get more money and I will save some.

Let me know if this works for you? If so, then please send me your PayPal address.

Thanks.

Bram"

THEN I GET A NICER ONE BACK... HOOKED??!!

"Hi Bramwell

Yes sorry for the confusion. It's all factory original though.

And yes gift payment would be better as to save fees.

My PayPal is: [email protected]

Kind regards,

Alex Osbourne"

PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW YOU WANT ME TO PROCEED BOYS. I AMTHINKING OF TELLING HIM MY PAYPAL IS NOT WORKING AND SHOULD I SEND CASH OR A CHEQUE??

Not so livid now!

Bram
:D

Has he used the pics in this guys auction and sent them to you?

i would ask him if you could travel and meet him as you have an office nearby or something like that lol

Yep, exactly right. The thing is though if he invoices me then I am protected... What does he gain??

he'll withdraw the cash and leave paypal with the **** most likely, string him along and piss him off.

where did he contact you from?

He's more than likely not in the UK so won't be bothered by the threat of Paypal/police etc. He will just withdraw the money and disappear. Paypal are often the ones left out of pocket in these instances.

He contacted me through my gumtree advert... Will string him along for as long as I can then just ignore it...

Mwah ha ha ha

Tell him you have a family friend on the Isle of Man, they are coming to the mainland next week and will be visiting your parents.

If they can collect it from him with cash, you'll have it. So can you get his address and a time thats suits.

See if he bites!

He's just messaged me again asking if I received Tue previous email as he would like to get the payment so he can ship Wednesday.

Ha ha ha... To be honest as much as I wanna have fun with him, I am just gonna inform PayPal of what is happening and let then deal with it

Can't be doing with any hassle. Too much going on!

Cool. As fun as it might be to play games with the guy reporting him is probably the right thing to do. He's probably done it before and will do it again.

Only thing is that Paypal and Ebay might not do anything as it doesn't look like he's actually committed the crime yet ..not one that can be proven anyway:?

He's contacted me 3 times this evening asking for payment so he can send tomorrow, it comes up with a different second name to the one he's signed off with!

I will send him a message in the morning offering him a cheque so I can get his address.

UPDATE!!

I asked him if he wants a cheque and he says he only wants a secure payment. So I told him that my dad use to ride the TT races in the Isle of Man and will be out there next week so he can bring the cash and get the items.

Let's see what he comes back with??

Yesterdays email were coming up Alex Harp, he's told me is name is Alexander Osbourne and todays e-mails are coming up Alex Jones with just a one number difference in the e-mail address.

you would think a scammer would at least get his story straight..
Anway, play around with him, if you can't get the pickup for some lame excuse, say that you only pay with paypal after getting some more pictures even if it takes him awhile, tell him you want agled pictures with a newspaper with the days date on it or something like that. (so we can see how his photoshop skills are.. :D :D )

Also i don't know if you know/ or are a fan off David Thorne
http://www.27bslash6.com/
But you can also start putting non relevant bullshit information in your emails like David does many times, just to get him confused....
