Rubbish time of year?

Giving away stuff on ebay currently. Is it just being so close to Christmas?

Just let go of a MISB Big Trak and Trailer for £100. That's daylight robbery surely?

15" Darth only made £72, same for Palitoy Leia 12". Luckily I had a reserve on them. But come on I sold a Starsky and Hutch doll twin pack for getting on for twice that and Starsky's knee was knackered and Hutch's gun was missing!

If this is rubbish time of year, then when is a good one?

Not expecting any sympathy after lucking-in on Chewie but I still hate to see things go so cheap.

I always find the weeks leading up to Christmas a very hard time to sell stuff for decent money. Go a couple of week before so end of November its a whole different story. I've got the last of my lego to sell but am holding off until the new year as I know it will be tough now to get the money I want for them.

Could agree with you more guys.

However, it may also depend on what it is you are selling? If it was a desirable item such as a Yak Face or Blue Snag it might be a different story. I hjave seen some crazy prices in the run up to the festive period a few times in the past :)

Regardless of the time of year, people will pay you what they think your item is worth. Frustrating as that may be, it is the way of things. It served you well with Chewbacca as that went for more than one has ever gone for, because to several collecotrs that is what it was worth. Sometimes it doesn't!! You have to guage demand V rarity.

I've seen shite 15" Vaders without a box fetch over £30, what's with £72 for a MIB?!

I feel sick about the Big Trak. Should have done a BIN but hoped no reserve would generate a bit of excitement. You know the buyer's going to double his money easily on that one. MISB Starbirds fetch £200 on their own.

Is January going to be any better?

November was my best month ever and December's been strong too. People buy more leading up to christmas. I made double in November what i made in august.
What might be the problem is auctions. Auctions are always dangerous anyway and no one should run an ebay business based on auctions really unless it's a guaranteed seller. All my stuff is buy it now so i always get what i need for an item. I'm guessing here but perhaps at this busy time of the year people aren't as attentive and patient when it comes to watching auctions on ebay and are more keen to just "get things bought!". I don't know.

Frikkin' superglued sabre DV makes £55 plus p&p! But I can't get more than £72 for mine.

:x

thing is there are enough BIN fantasists out there already and I don't want to get labelled as another one so I figured auctions was the best way to get what something's worth. But it's really hard to get the valuations right for BIN. It takes hours of research for each item and I've consistently got it wrong each time! I'm pretty sure pukka MISB stuff should be worth a decent amount though and right now I'm having trouble giving it away.

Time to call it a day until the new year. But someone's going to pick up a stunning R2 and 3PO 12" pair for £50 each. I hour left and 1 bid of £100 on it. They made £128 before but I thought that was on the low side. Ridiculous. Like they say, once they're gone, they're gone!

Sorry to moan but I'm paying top dollar on the stuff I'm buying, guess that's same as it ever was!

Have a good Christmas everyone!

Or just post here and ask.

It seems to me that 12 inch figures are at an all time low. I have picked up 4 beautys for less than £100. (C-3PO £55/ ESB Boba Fett £88) :? :)

I don't get why they are so unloved at the moment because they are freakin awesome.

In the late 1990's i can remember that they were at least £180 with others much higher. Maybe the internet has exposed that there are infact tons of them or that all the 12 inch collectors already have them.

I don't know- but I think they're awesome.

Agreed

Like I Said, it all comes down to rarity v demand.

There are plenty of 12" out there for the people that collect. There's been for example several C3P0's on ebay, there's even another one and an R2 on sale there now.

Like in all areas, there are ones that are tough to find.

You never know DrP, you might have a last miute bidding war!

But these have never been out of the box! The others for sale are just not in the same league in terms of history or condition.

about 10 minutes left to get yourself 2 pukka examples of the original set at 'all time low' prices!

But you have a picture of the R2 out of the box? :?

Well whaddya know, the power of the force!

Cheers Gary, you've still got a bargain mind.

Yes R2 has been out of the box but only for the photos. I figured if the box is open punters will want to see more detail about the figure.

He'll be worth that on his own in 6 months. My two Lukes made over £315 and one was missing a Sabre (might have been the grapple hook but you get my drift)!

Good luck to you, thanks for bidding and Happy Christmas!

December is really no different to any other time of the year it all comes down to supply and demand.

If you have an item that has not been seen on ebay for months and is desirable it will sell like hot cakes, some items i'm watching are doing really well and attracting loads of bids simply because people want them and they don't appear for sale that often.
