rs & iop

ive been on this site for a while now and everyone refers to iop and rs ... what the **** do these stand for ???? i relise that they are sites but are they any good ??
or are they full of yanky doodle dandys fillling the site with spam ?? :evil:

IOP is Imperial Outpost, it's another UK based site. I'm not a member (a lot of the guys here are, Angel, Carl, Lee, Jabba now :lol: etc) but I've read a few of the threads and it seems like a pretty decent site. Much more varied than this. In that we are mainly vintage/modern, they have a lot more sections. No doubt one of the others will tell you more about it.

RS is Rebel Scum, it's a US based site, but has members from all over the world. Again, I'm not a member but Edd, Craig, Lee, Gary etc are. It seems to be a bit more ehhh intense. Some of the people on it seem quite dead on, others seem to be incredibly anally retentive. (Please correct me if I'm wrong). It's not a bad source for information though.

cheers for that, i feel that iam best suited to this site, iam not saying i wouldnt join anyothers but i collect as a hobby and getting new stuff still gets me gripped (its like an drug) but i have a life and i get scared that theres people out there that get really hardcore about it and thats all they live for,, you know the type ,,, you wouldnt trust them to babysit if you know what i mean !!! :evil:

You'd probably be fine on IOP, they seem quite laid back (not as laid back as we are over here, but still a decent enough bunch of guys). RS is probably not for you though. Still worth a look if you got time, you don't have to be a member of either (RS or IOP) to read most of the threads.

RS is great if you need help telling whether something is original or not, or if you need background info on anything - there is a lot of expertise over there. However, some of the people are just too full of their own self importance. Its not a forum that likes a laugh :roll:

I mainly hang out in the Europe section of RS and the Props section. Sometimes I go into the Modern section for info etc but the people there are really dumb.

IOP on the other hand is better because we aren't all arseholes.

As for RS although I been a member a few years and there are a few members that think they are self important but the rest are great guys

i actually met one of those overseas self important guys in person at CE and my opinion changed of him completely as he was a really decent guy and got on really well with him, thats not to say when he posts on RS though he still full of himself

I must say that i found rs very anal and i even offered to buy a few things and they dont even get back to you so bollox to them and as for iop im not sure what the people are like as ive only recently had a look but there seemed to be too many different catagories
