Royal Mail Price Changes 02/04/13

there is no queuing at the post office behind all the deadbeats slinging their benefits cards at the staff and saying "all of it love"

I thought I was the only one who thought that  It makes my blood boil seeing them all queuing up with their iPhones and designer clothes withdrawing my money. Absolutely infuriating. Why they have to go to the post office at 9am when I have to get to work and they have all day to piss around is beyond me.

I had one breathing down my neck the other day stinking of smoke in his hoody. Everyone else was waiting patiently and he was tutting and walking up and down on the spot from side to side in the queue impatiently!

****ers!

Actually not long come back from the post office to send something and the woman was quite bemused herself at the new price system. Managed to get a parcel out to America though with £500 insurance and tracking for £23 which was fine with me as the buyer paid it anyways!

I sent 2 loose figures in a box too small for a moc using airsure and it cost nearly £11 to Germany. Ouch!!

well it cost me last week to send 1 loose graded item was £3.65 want today and it was £6.65 for a smaller box. and special delivery was only 30p more how can they charge almost double?

Between our rate hike over here in the states and now yours...international deals are going to become a bitch.

They are indeed buddy - Love your avatar mate - that could have been me a few years back!

Thought there would be a thread about this!

Well last week sent a parcel first class recorded for £3.70 this week sent one half the size AND weight for twice the price. She just said "its got to fit through this gap love" it must have been about 10cm wide!

You see the knock on will be figures being sent badly packaged just to get it through the slot. Sigh what a load of bollocks. Moaned to the Missus all the way home. :D

Yep mate - I can see that happening :(

We all knew this was coming when Maggie's lot came into power. Posh boy about to sell the remainder off soon :-(

Look to other couriers if you want cheaper delivery costs like Parecl2go.com - http://link2.fm/5P1ZCV

au revoir Royal Mail. Hello Private Mail :)

Am sick of reading crap like this - every ****ing forum I am on is full of pops at the Government - God know how this has got anything to do with them ?

I actually went down to the Post Office today with about 40 packages expecting to lose a ton of money on the prices that I had quoted but to be honest I think I broke about even. The price of sending a box has gone up a lot - and it is probably worth shopping around for this - but for me it is pretty simple now - if it is a small packet then it is 90p (so that is most loose figures) - if it is a larger figure then it is £3.00 - and this covers any number of figures that you can fit into a box/envelope that fits through the gap - after that you are looking at £6.75 for a large box

I don't see the problem - and to be honest it still amazes me that you can send a small packet to the States for £3.00 when you can't even get a bus into town and back for that

Many items i sell/post in a medium size box, nothing expensive, have almost doubled in shipping costs this week. What was £2.70 is now £5.30. Sorry but i don't see that as justifiable and it's gonna hurt small businesses like mine. Customers won't pay £5.30 to have a box with a fivers worth of stuff in it sent from one side of london to the other. They're gonna kick up a fuss and it's gonna hit the small man in the pocket. I spend about £100 a week at the post office so they do pretty well out of small internet businesses and a million other internet sales a day i would have thought.
And let's be clear- the post office isn't being paid £3 to take one parcel from london to Newcastle (for example) they're getting paid to take 3-400 parcels in one van, at £3-8 a pop. So each van they send rakes in a decent wad of cash for the post-office, for whom, by the way, business has never been so good. It's greed and it's bullshit.

bah

Posted two MOC's yesterday. Last week an identical package, same weight and same box cost me £9.75, now it's £11.25!? 15% price rise

Seconded. Not like Labour would have done things any better. If they had half a notion how to run an economy we wouldn't be in this mess! Note to Miliband and Balls (can't even remember their first names) Socialism is great.......until you run out of other people's money to spend! Gordon and Tony spent everyone's money, and some!

The depth for a small packet is 8 cm's, I doubt a star case in its own would fit through that. Personally if I was sending a moc in the post that could get through that gap I'd feel I wasn't packaging it safely enough.

Well just priced up a parcel that 6 x 6 x 6" weight less than 600g, Cheapest signed for option £6.30 second class  or £5.20 cheapest option without signature :x I could have sent this for about £3.70 before the change

Yes I have managed to book it via a courier service that will collect for £4.40 which includes VAT & 2% added for paying via paypal & signed for service, I could have sent it for as little as £3.35

I think RM may well be shooting themselves in the foot with these hikes, the package is pretty dam small & very light & now also very expensive  - you have to laugh as the other option is pants

I agree - It seems everyone is hiking their prices at the moment - not good for us buying ir selling MOCs :(

Heads up on buying MOC's from the states. Shipping one of them before our price hike was around the $10.00 mark.......Now around the $18.00 mark.

Considering the price hikes I have had a Gammy Guard through this week and the packaging was prob the best I've seen from an ebayer, and recorded singed for and came to a total of £3.70 so people will still package stuff properly.

Well I am truly dismayed, just checked what price it would be to send an item which last week was costing me £5.50 to post, cheapest & may I add only option now via parcelforce is £9.10, I don't even want to work out the percentage rate increase on that but I already know its astronomical, got 3 of these to send this week & its an item I sell frequently, its under 1.5kg in weight but the length of the package makes it prohibitively expensive to post RM now, so the couriers is my only option, checked & its only £3.99 + the dreaded with them, no competition really is there :?

I think RM will go tits up if they do not revise there pricing structure to a more rational way of calculating actual costs, be such a sham to see it go the same way as, well pretty much every bloody thing else in the country :|
