I'm sure some of you may have heard about this, but as far as I'm aware nobody has ever tried it on a yellow bubble. Have a read of this:

http://stiggyblog.wordpress.com/2011/09/11/nintendo-gameboy-gets-the-retrobrite-treatment/

As you can see, this product readily available from Boots reverses the yellowing of old games consoles. I wonder whether it would have the same effect on a bubble? It can't be that hard to get it all over the bubble without damaging the card.

Me too i could slap some on it and see what happens.
Where do you buy this stuff. Just done an ebay search and nothing. :?

This should help: http://retr0bright.wikispaces.com/

I did a bit of research on this before and the general consensus was that it wouldn't restore yellow bubbles as the yellowing was all the way through the plastic.

possibly a silly question but does it work on figures? got a few beater stormtroopers that look like they just left the set of a frankie goes to hollywood video...

This stuff is what the stormie whitening solution is based on. There is a thread on here (or RS, or somewhere else  ) with the ingredients...

Peroxide, glycerine, sunshine and something else I think. Check before you mix, what I have just suggested sounds a bit dangerous

That 'frog tape' masking tape stuff could protect the card from the solution, if you are brave...

Check in the restorations/whatever it's called forum - there are quite a few threads on whitening.

Is it me, but that Gameboy didn't look at all yellowed to me!

This is the stuff:

Apparently you can get it from Boots. Much easier than mixing it up yourself as per the Retrobrite site above.

No it's not just you :|

Check out his other post for some really impressive results using the same stuff:

I have no idea whether it would work on a bubble or not, but surely it's worth a try. It's possible that they're so thin, the peroxide would be able to penetrate the whole bubble.

I'll start by saying i know actually nothing about this, but my concern would be that it would make the bubble more fragile

Lee Bullock would be the ideal man to consult on whether or not this would a be a good idea of just a quick bodge that makes a problem worse. I have tried peroxide on some loose stormtroopers and while it does reverse some of the yellowing it does seem to change the plastic on the figure too. The ones I have tried are markedly different from untreated examples (the plastic seems more brittle and rougher than normal for example).

I'm not an expert by any means but I doubt this is a fix and may well do more damage than it fixes.
