Since I started collecting vintage I have never disliked the repro and recard words so much in my entire life!
Simply ruining the hobby for everyone in my opinion. :(

Nobody does mate. Some of these things are hard to tell apart from the real deal, that's the real issue.

A word to the wise - if you go on RS do not, and I repeat, do not get drawn into the repro debate. Besides, its been done to death.

Repro = bad

Cheers for the message!
Is it generally safe to say that if a carded figure has the'waffle' type glue effect all around on where the bubble joins the card then it's genuine?

I'll never be drawn into repro, not real so what is the point! :)

Fairly safe bet until someone finds a way round that. Cards with the waffle patern could still be reseals which is fine in my book as long as you know what you're buying.

There are a lot of tell tale signs to look out for. Some of the guys on here are very good and really know their stuff. Pretty sure there's a few threads on the subject.

Welcome to the forum though buddy.

Cheers for the heads up mate!
Fully appreciated.
It's a blessing to have such a great site with so many collectors with useful info on the hobby. :D

"recard" is probably the most commonly misused term in the hobby and can be very misleading. A "recard" should be just what it says; an original figure "RE-carded" to it's original cardback with the original bubble. There's nothing wrong with this. If anything this is done to preserve and should be applauded.
A figure attached to a reproduction card with a reproduction bubble is a "repro" or "custom" not a "recard". And, yes, they are filth and damaging to the hobby.

too add to this a "Custom" is not a repro. It is a figure on a cardback that was never released by the manufacturer and it totally acceptable. Reseal is more so the term used for original parts all put back together. Recard or Repro is the one that is a flat out copy and is considered bad on here and Bootleg on RS. :wink:
