I have a red cape bib fortuna that I purchased from someone in the UK and trying to figure out if it is real. His story matched history (was a kenner employee) I was very skeptic but I bought a vinyl cape jawa from this person and it turned out legit after afa grading. Any help because there is nothing out there on the red cape kenner bagged bibs?

UK seller was a Kenner employee???? Less than a handful of red caped bibs exist- chances of it being real are slim- got a picture?? Regardless, unless it goes to AFA it's fake

Even then it could get AFA approval. :D

Always a dangerous purchase as its one of the most highly faked items out there - therefore its not surprising any claim to having a Red Coat Bib is met with scepticism.

When purchasing anything like that provenance is the key thing. Ask for names! Who did he buy it from, who did it originate from? If you can legitimately track it to a Kenner employee then thats positive.

These are rare as rocking horse doody and sell for big money. The biggest indicator of it being real is cost. If it cost you a few hundred quid then its incredibly unlikely to be real. If it cost you a few thousand quid - its more likely :)

I would expect that there are only a handful of these out there. Oli is right. You would need some very firm provenance to even consider buying such a piece. An item like this would need to go to someone like Tom Derby for verification. I would not use a standard AFA service. The chances are that AFA would advise you to submit the piece using the GAS option which mean that it ended up with Tom Derby anyway.
