Yeh I repaired it just fine using a guitar pick and some super glue. Works a treat now. A forum member also gave me a POTF2 canopy that fit well for free!

Sansweet has enough dosh by my guessing, and if someone needs to pay to use RS ( which is basically under martial law anyway) then that is a disgrace. I could understand if it were for a kids charity or something, but Sansweet?? **** right off!

Yep, hence why there is so much stuff shifting to the likes of facebook.

I don't follow the thought process behind this, some newspapers are moving behind pay walls but they offer something of merit and specialism, RS doesn't any more. Its losing out to facebook, other forums and apathy and now they pull this.

I bet the sales forums will move behind a subscription as well as the more advanced features like fewer ads, search functions, larger PM mail folders and the ability to host larger images.

Can't say I'm going to miss RS that much, it will be just like SirSteve's Guide.

Well if anything, the money raised should go back to its members who have made the place what it is over the years,
all the info, pics, guides etc, they have contributed over the years for free, will be used to make $$$ now???
Don't they make enough from sponsers, ads, etc??

I thought it was just me that thought he was a bit OTT...

I like RS. Its where I started and I can post pictures there. In fact, I use RS to host my pictures even for here. (Btw, will we ever be able to store pictures of decent size on here?). So, I have a soft spot for it. I don't think they are any more or less political than here, either - but that's my personal opinion.

It would be sad to see the end of it in my books, and like many, I'm not sure if I would pay. It really depends on what it is I'd be paying for I guess. I would hope that there is some loyalty bonus for those who have been with it for a while.

In terms of what they could charge for:-

1) Using the classifieds. This would just kill it off imo.

2) Looking at the historical archive. This is the only thing of value on RS. Would you pay to see old threads? I fear a big chunk of collecting history would just become unaccessible.

Surely if you need to raise funds or give money to 'Rancho Obi Wan', allow people to donate at their own will? I can only think this will slowly kill of RS.

Another point is that all of the information on the forum is provided by the users such as ourselves? People should not have to pay to access information they potentially created.
