Soap box time.
There are tools in all walks of life. That's a fact that everyone of us deals with everyday. Even some of us tools have to deal with super-tools and no doubt not a single tool is aware of their gifted tool status because it's someone else's opinion. And most of the time that opinion is based on an intolerance of the person with that opinion. I'm guilty of it myself. We all are.
I doubt a single person here believes that "All RS members are X" or "All FB users are Y" or all SWFUKers are the funniest, warmest, best looking and only genuine SW collectors that exist". To dismiss a group of people in their entirety is ignorant. Dependent upon the group being dismissed/categorised/treated differently it can be illegal. Doesn't mean folk don't do it, though.
I read, and partake, in the banter that appears on this forum about FB and RS in the same way as I do about other groups of this vintage collecting community: with a rye smile and an open mind. We've all got friends on FB and RS. I can say that with certainty because I consider most of us on here as friends. Maybe not one big goddam communal hug but in a shared interest, shared space and shared generation kind of way. Anyone that buys or sells me something, that compliments a post or purchase, that provides advice or guidance or that I share a joke with here is consider to be a friend by me. You won't get a Christmas card and nor will you come to my next housewarming party, but I'm happy to call you friend.
I'll continue to take the piss out of FB. I'll continue to use FB. I'll continue to take the piss out of RS. I'll continue to use RS. I'll continue to take the piss out of Stu. I won't use you Stu, promise

It's what makes this place a fun place to be. It's what makes it alive. And remember: offence is taken, never given. (Stole that, can't remember who said it but they have a point).
Above all else, can we please remember we're talking about toys here? Great, great toys that captured our imaginations, that forged friendships and caused fights, that made our Christmases and Birthdays or caused us strife when we lost them. But toys, none the less.
