Not everything in that picture was 100% legit unfortunately. I know that they almost all of the figures got split up and that Pablo had a hand in "discovering" them. With Pablo turning out to be a bit of a rotten apple since all those amazing discoveries a lot of his unique prototype stuff was heavily questioned.

Some of the people that own parts of that discovery may not even be aware of the controversy surrounding Pablo.

John A Graham picked up the Luke on Stormtrooper card shown in the picture which then went to Jay, at some point it came apart and I think the figure (which was unpainted) turned out to be a stripped production figure.

Here is a quote John made actually -

I've read a couple of times in this thread where there has been some question as to the legitimacy of some TopToys "Proto" items.

Now, I don't know where or from whom this item originated, I purchased it a year or so ago, I think from Bill Willis. Please keep in mind before I was allowed to pay for it, that it was strongly suggested to me that there was some question as to the authentically of the item. I liked the item and paid for it, just to have the unusual combination.

Here's what I can say with 100% certainty. I firmly believe it to be a fake prototype. I'm still 1000% happy with the item.

My reason for my belief is this, when I received the item the bubble was 'split' and as I wanted to realign the bubble I went ahead and pulled the bubble all the way off, at which time I closely inspected the figure. What I discovered was that (BTW: I'm sure the figure is 100% authentic Argentinean "perhaps paint stripped.") the 'pin/sockets' that hold the arms and legs to the figure, were/had been broken, and that they were 'applied/stuck to' the figure using; I'd say super-glue. Again, the figure and accessories appear to be legit, but the fact that the figure is held together with super-glue because the ball joints are damaged, leads me to believe that this item "as a proto" is a 100% fraud.

There was another collector that ended up with the pepsi promo prototype Lando that yet again bust out of a weakly sealed bubble and was a total botch job of a figure (wet paint + glued together).

Not sure if things were recast or just stripped + customised but a lot of the things shown in that picture are probably not real prototypes sadly :(

That's not to say that legit prototypes/pre prod material didn't come out of Argentina as there are obviously a bunch of steel moulds etc that have gone into collections and are completely genuine but the find referenced above must be taken with a pinch of salt.

The Top Toys photo is awesome.

I know someone with a white torso luke jedi but his is a loose sample. I'll ask him a few questions about it I think.

Wow, this is why SW collecting is so good, just when you start to learn something, boom, a whole new horizon opens up

Lovin it :D
