My hard to find figure prior to the release of the last 17 was the jawa.....it was the last one I needed to complete the set. I use to go into shops, check the displays, and also ask to open the sealed cases of figures that they had stored in the back. I did this for ages in a lot of shops until I was in a shop in sourthern Ireland (Dundalk) and got lucky. I open one sealed case they had stored out the back and it had 5 ROTJ jawas in it. Needless to say I bought all five and have them to this day!

Used to love going into shops in the 90's and finding storeroom stashes

Yep, outside Belfast.

Opening those sealed cases was half the fun of collecting and was the only way to get the decent figures. Once any of the good figures were on display they went like hotcakes.
I also knew when certain shops got new deliveries and use to ring on that particular morning and ask them to check cases for figures I was looking for. If they had them I got them posted to my house. I paid the postage/figure cost with postal orders. They posted them in jiffy bags, wasn't worried about crushed bubbles in those days!

Indeed. Didn't want tp fuel the fire of a palitoy vinyl caped jawa though. I never saw any as a nipper in the UK. :wink:

Did Kenner supply shops in uk in 1978? If not then i had a Palitoy Vinyl cape jawa as mine was bought when they first came out in 78.

Difficult to see the past is. Kenner 12 Backs did make it here and into Europe in general (there were loads of VCJ's in Germany for example). The Vinyl cape bubble can be found on some Palitoy cards but it seemed this housed some examples of the cloth cape Jawa as well. Who knows????

I never saw a White Leia, small head Han and Chewbacca on 12 back palitoy card (chewy was the only one i had that was kenner).

Actually a lot of playsets porved illusive including the palitoy death star, droid factory, and the probot playset.

strangley i swapped a skinny skateboard for a death star playset when i was at secondary school.... which was complete

Never knew about bluesnag either. My first three figures were at at commander, luke hoth then ccp. Cant remember why i went for at at commander first, must have been the at at on the card.
