Tracking it down was the relatively easy part. Acquiring it was the hard part. I had to make some big sacrifices and unfortunately it wasn't a liver or kidney

This is brilliant, such a fantastic collection. Bravo Oli, you've done really well. What's next on the hit list?
Thanks Jez, I would love to get my hands on one of the remaining proof cards - perhaps the 47 back or 48c back if I can locate them. I've also toyed with the idea of adding a few production pieces like a foreign MOC if I find any in good shape.
Ryan unfortunately that mock up figure has never turned up so perhaps it doesn't exist anymore. But who knows with all the crazy stuff being uncovered - there could be a chance that it's found one day.
As it currently stands there are no known figural pre production pieces for R5-D4 other than a silk screen sticker sheet and a couple of QC pieces. But much like "production like" photo samples I personally don't consider QC stuff as true pre production. I consider it more "internal kenner".
However I do have one new piece on its way that is about as close as it gets to figural pre production.
You know what really cuts me up about this, i owned the 47 back proof and sold it for around £225 in 2005 IIRC. If i still had it i would have passed it onto this great collection. To think that John sold all of the 47 backs off in 2004 for what now seems like peanuts and now they are locked away...and released for a HUGE ransom I remember when he listed them there was a flood of PM's - i just wanted a first 21 character and always loved the R5 card. I did want the Power Droid but got beaten to it. Heck, it is still nice knowing i once owned it.
Fantastic collection bud, cant wait to see it grow more.
Most of my stuff is boxed up and in storage right now. A couple of month ago i took a few things out of storage and took a group photo of some of my favourite bits and pieces.
Hi Oli, love the new pic. Glad you posted it here as well as RS so I could leave a positive comment. I read somewhere that you'd like to find a red coat Bib and maybe a black caped Squid. Good luck on the hunt for those Fella. 8)
Cheers mate. There's not really much new apart from the cromalins but sometimes getting a few things out of storage and snapping a few pics feels nearly as good as a new purchase!
Yes still thinking about a red coat bib and black cape squid head - hopefully one day. My priority is to finish the R5 run. I'm really hooked on the 2d stuff right now
Thanks for the kind words. They're known as pre production samples or carded samples when carded. The Leia pink poncho can be found on a 48 back ROTJ snowtrooper card. It's a pretty awesome combination. I only know of 2 carded examples out there. As far as loose examples go there is the one i own and a hardcopy. I've heard rumours of another pink poncho on a production like figure but never seen evidence to prove it exists.
Thanks for the kind words. Right now I have them in custom acrylic cases and polybags. Not very interesting way to keep them but I got a bit worried about the light fading them - especially the cromalins. One day i'll work out somewhere to display them all nicely.
