I've got to post an item to the States and the buyer has requested insurance for the full amount which is £1000.

I know I can post Royal Mail Int Signed For for a max insurance of £500 I think the same goes for Airsure.

Are there any other options???

When you pay there are additional insurance options with every method I think. You can, for a couple of quid I beleive increase the insurance on any item.

Cheers Chaz,

Been a while since I've posted owt abroad but I'm sure I was told the max amount with either Int Signed For or Airsure was £500.

It'll do no harm to ask anyways.

I've got some blank Airsure & International Signed For labels and on both of them it says:-
Tick if your item is worth more than £30. and you require additional compensation.

On the PO site for Airsure it states:-
If you're thinking about sending anything valuable abroad, extra compensation can offer added peace of mind. For just £2.00, you can get further compensation of up to £500 (depending on which country you're sending it to) in the unlikely event that your mail is lost or damaged en route.

For International Signed For:-
How much compensation will I get if my item is lost or damaged?
If your item is lost or damaged in transit, we will pay compensation of up to the value of 100 First Class stamps per item upon production of a copy of the certificate of posting and proof of item value. Extra compensation of up to £250 or up to £500 (depending on the country) is available for an extra charge of £2.20 per item (in addition to the £3.70 International Signed Forâ"¢ fee). Please note however that the maximum compensation for cash and money sent via International Signed Forâ"¢ is £100 when extra compensation has been purchased. Also cash and money cannot be sent at all to a number of countries, so you should check with Royal Mail Customer Services on 08457 740 740 before sending cash and money, etc to check that it is possible to do so. In addition, extra compensation is not available for items containing mobile phones (so that the maximum compensation for the loss or damage to a mobile phone is the value of 100 First Class stamps per package sent.

What if I want to send something worth more than £500?

You can still use International Signed Forâ"¢ to send items worth over £500 but we don't offer compensation to cover the value of items over this amount so you should take out additional private insurance to cover the full value of your goods.
