I've got a problem with a seller on RS. I won't name him, but you'll probably guess anyway. Please let me know if you think I'm being unfair:

After buying a carded R2D2 ESB, I found that the figure had a chip in the plastic under the dome. The MOC I thought I was buying is actually a 75 or 80 OC.

I asked the seller for a partial refund as a gesture and he pretty much said that lots of carded R2's have problems and I never asked about the figure. So he wouldn't give me a refund. He didn't even offer a couple of quid.

He did say that I can send it back for a full refund, but that's postage cash wasted.

I was trying to be reasonable.

I'd say if the seller didn't state the damage/flaw in the sales description, he'd be obligated to at least give you a partial refund, or as
you say, complete refund with returning the item.
I myself have sometimes forgot to mention flaws, and have always been happy to refund the cash, and even offered to pay
for the return shipping...I see no reason to ruin my sales reputation...And I can't understand why someone would do that...

I don't know what was said or how the sale was described but i agree, a seller has an obligation to mention any and all damage. Not much you can do if he's gonna be a dick about it other than send it back for a full refund.

Iain / Liam, whatever your name is, unfortunatley he is the type of seller to get confused.

What I don't understand is, he acknowledeges that there is a chip in the figure (I even sent him pictures of it), but won't accept that there is a fault. Doublethink anyone!

Aussiejames, I doubt he would do this, but I can ask.

This is my first purchase from a forum. So far, I think I prefer ebay!!! :o

...

Just got an email as I write this. To his credit, he has sent through a partial refund. Honestly, I didn't think he would.

Trust me mate - as someone who buys and sells on both then you will definitely do better on the boards that you will on ebay

Generally those on the boards have a reputation to uphold and therefore tend to go over the top with customer service and over play any faults. The only problems seem to be with those looking to leave the game (there is a post in the watch out thread on RS as we speak for another seller in this position)

I was very happy with the cards I received from our friend but not the way he went about selling them - however in your case I think you have a genuine grievance and as others have said, he should have told you about it.

I am not sure what the best thing to do as another watch out thread about him might be a bit too much ! Perhaps if he will refund all postage then you are better off just sending it back ?

Oh and its Iain  not Liam, not Lian and certainly not Ian
