**** Presents Thread 2916

Slightly off topic but this thread made me remember my Christmas around the age of 4 or 5. I was a massive Tom Baker Dr Who fan at the time and all I wanted for Christmas was a Dr Who outfit. Christmas came around and I awoke to find Santa had been and left me the said outfit. I just remember the slight disappointment of putting on a hat that I knew was my Grandad's as it smelt of smoke, a really long scarf that I suspected my Mum had knitted and some old overcoat that my well have also come from my Grandad! The best part of all of it was finding a massive clear bag full of Jelly Babies in the pocket.

The thing that sticks we me the most about that Christmas was just wishing that I'd asked for something different, a mistake I didn't make again and a few years later the one thing I wanted was a Palitoy Deathstar which I ended up getting! A happy end to my tale (even though it did take a few years to get there).

Everybody in the in laws family thinks that i'm defined by Star Wars / doesn't know me very well so every year I get all sorts of modern Star Wars tat. I'm completely happy with this perception of my personality.

Sounds like my Christmas.. I'm expecting at least one Star Wars mug, some random Star Wars playing card/Top Trumps type game, a book of the film (well one of the films in a knockdown old edition) and some random modern figure... I'm guessing Constable Zuvio!
I have though already (Secret Santa at work) had Star Wars chopsticks, which given I also love Japanese and Chinese food, is actually a half decent stab... so not all such random Star Wars tat is bad :D

Secret Santa... Vader ice tray!

guaranteed to get at least 2 or 3 modern star wars tat presents tomorrow. Shouldn't complain, there'll be folk out there with nothing. If i knew one they could have my star wars tat

My SW fixation is well known in my family, so fully expecting the usual haul of tat.
SW socks, mugs, key fobs and coasters (received two sets last year  ).

I know, shouldn't complain.
The first world problems of being a SW nerd :D

I get it too.

For some reason, me having a wall of Star Wars merchandise in the spare room makes folk think I'd like Star Wars goods for Christmas.

Modern SW tad - lucky sods, be getting socks with a bag of nuts & an orange no doubt  though I am lucky, the limited family that do buy me gifts know full well not to buy modern for me as I'd rather have the bag of nuts  though I did get a vader cup last year which I actually really liked, said I like my coffee on the dark side

sadly we are all to early to be getting what we really want - a copy of our very own of the new film - here's wishing everyone gets something nice in their stocking come the morning or I can see a very busy few days in the modern for sales section.

Yep I get everything from Captain Phasma flask mugs, to Stormtrooper belt buckles. What I do is pass them onto younger members of the opposite sides of the family who are into modern. My side get me something I won't keep/use, it goes to someone on my wife's side they've never met lol
