Premier League 24/25 Thread

Been pretty much done and dusted for a while now. Nice to get it won.

Predictions for the CL spots? Top two are a given, and you gotta fancy City. The rest all have winnable/losable games.

Ange will surely get sacked. (Don't call me Shirley)

City
Forest
Newcastle for the other 3 UCL spots.

FA Cup - Man City
UCL - Barcelona
Europa League - Club Athletic

Man Utd still have to play Villa and Chelsea and will probably lose to both, but Chelsea and Villa could both miss out on a UCL spot and Man Utd could qualify by winning the Europa league!! If Utd do qualify for the UCL they will do so with finishing outside the top 7 two seasons in a row.

Does Ange keep his job if you win the EL @edd_jedi?
Thank the maker this season is over 😩 the worst I can remember. I'm still dumbfounded how we went from being top of the league in match week 10 last season:

To where we are now. The turning point was that ridiculous match against Chelsea when we had four key players either injured or suspended, and never looked the same since.

I don't think there's one simple reason, it's been a perfect storm of injuries, too much game time, form, confidence, and Son coming to the end of his career (oh and not to mention Harry Kane leaving.)

While I've been less than impressed with the results and seeming lack of a plan B, I agree with Ange that any manager would have been ****ed with the season we've had, I don't think we've been able to play the preferred starting XI once, even with a half decent bench.

I have zero confidence we'll win the EL and quite frankly we don't deserve it, but either way personally I would give Ange another season if he can get everyone fit and, more importantly, some form and confidence back. This is practically the same squad as the screenshot above, we have scored plenty of goals, and while I don't think Spurs are challenging for the title they are punching well below their weight at the moment, surely.

Saying that, I think it's fair to say this has been a fairly diabolical season all round (except for the neutral) 80 points has got to be one of the lowest winning totals in history? Three wins out of six for the team in second, there hasn't been any serious competition for Liverpool. As the saying goes you can only beat what's in front of you, but where were these teams when we got 86 points a few seasons ago 😂 (and yes I know Liverpool came 2nd with 90+ so this is well deserved!)

HT at the Emirates. Could have been two or three down in 25/30 minutes and maybe a player down if Timber didn't get his head out his arse. Last 15/20 should have equalised and I'd say HT was welcomed by PSG, and not wanted by Arsenal.

Second half - could've scored two or three and could've conceded another couple. 0-1 doesn't feel insurmountable in Paris though

I only saw the second half but they blew quite a few decent chances, going there only 1-0 down is definitely not a bad result!

I half watched last night, I missed the first 10-15. It was a fairly standard first leg, PSG could have had a few more, and if Trossard and Martinelli weren't **** so could Arsenal. Ohh and if you're set piece coach didn't have that daft as **** idea of all your players standing 5 yards offside and then running back onside, it may well have been 1-1. I'm sure yer man has a reason for it, but it does look daft. Especially when you end up NOT getting back onside.

It's all to play for but I would make PSG favourites, say 60:40 ish. The pitch out there is huge (12yards longer) and they just tire you out and pick you off. Arsenal have to score so PSG can just sit and wait, then counter when you over commit. They have the pace up front and they look a very switched on side. I know whose position I would rather be in.

I kind of agree with you boys on Ange not being able to keep his job after 19 league defeats this year, BUT if, and it is an "if", he wins the EL that is Spurs first bit of silverware in (is it) 20 years, and it's CL. They have been abysmal this year, but to sack a guy who gets them CL and a trophy seems harsh.

Ohh and it was 97points @edd_jedi and I'm not still pissed about it.
Pool are on track for (assuming they continue to collect points at roughly the rate they have so far) exactly the average points total City have managed over the last four years, so whilst everyone else has been ****, Pool have been (or are on course to be) exactly as good as the average over the last four years.

Some game last night. I would have preferred Barca to get through as Inter play 'Jose ball' when they are ahead, but fairs ****s that was some performance.

I see Arteta has his mind fully on their CL semi second leg. Going on about Liverpool and how Arsenal now have two titles cos they finished with more points than Liverpool won the title with this year.
Where do you start, really?

1) You have a CL semi second leg tonight, your clubs biggest game since they lost the last final, MAYBE concentrate on that? (Oh, and stop with the cringe videos as well).

2) It's not Liverpool you are playing, and they won the title ten days ago, get over it.

3) I appreciate these next two are a little tricky, so I'll say them in as simple terms as I can…..The. Season. Isn't. Finished! Yes, you got more points than Liverpool in the last two years, but you also played 38 games. Liverpool have three to go and if they win them all they get more points than you managed in either season. Also,

4) You dont get titles for getting more points than whoever wins the title in a random year of your choosing! You get titles for getting more points than every team in the league that year. This season, Liverpool got the most, that's why they are champions. It's really not that complicated.

5) You really are coming across as a total knob.

I assume this was yesterday or today? I've not seen/heard it, but **** me that's random

This points total obsession looking back and saying we would have won the league in such and such season is ridiculous. Liverpool are the league champions 24-25 season that's it as Man Utd were in 98-99 with 78 points. The clue is in the year.

Looking at the beeb I think it was a joke, but who knows.

VS PSG tonight we could've won 4-1 or lost even more heavily. I thought we played well enough, they just had too much in the end. Basically the best team we've played all year.

2/3/4 in the league and the semis of the CL can't be considered that bad of a season, particularly with some of the injuries we've had and lack of transfer activity. Definitely need more depth in certain areas, definitely do not need more left backs. Definitely need to extend Saliba.

I missed the first 10-15 mins, when I think Arsenal had their best chances, but from what I saw, PSG were the best side.
I said when they beat Pool that they were the best side I had seen all season, so no shame in Arsenal losing to them either.

I don't quite get Arsenal's tactics towards the end, I understand your bench was weak as pish and Trossard (who Indont rate) had already gone on, but surely the last 10 mins when you need a goal is exactly the time for Fat Sam hoof ball? Stick the big CB up front and fire balls at his head from every angle. All I saw from Arsenal was sideways, sideways, backwards, get to a half decent position and take another touch. I get they have no big striker to aim for, but that's why I don't understand not putting a CB up there. So what if you ship another, you're going out anyway! Passing and passing and going sideways had hardly worked for the first 170 mins of the tie, why would it suddenly get you two goals in the last 10?

It probably wouldn't have mattered, but it just annoyed me that they kept passing it about when time was very much against them.

Ohh and as for that penalty, wise up. Seriously, wise up.
It hit his hand but NO ONE appealed and it hardly changed the direction or speed of the ball. That is exactly what we DONT want VAR doing.

Come on the Bilbao!!!!!
