Premier League 2019/2020 Thread

Yes agreed, Spurs deserved to lose, Chelsea were infinitely better. Could just do without the comedy gifts we always seem to give away in these games, it's getting tiring.

First goal was a bit soft, the penalty was comedy. WTF was cazzaniga doing? The red card was fair enough. The alleged racial abuse of Rudiger was disgusting. Time for teams to just walk off.

I don't know how you stop it though. Fines are pointless. Life bans don't seem to be enough of a deterrent. As a matter of interest are they life bans from football or just the club in question?
I see the logic in pt's deductions, but what is to stop me buying a City/Utd shirt and going. Along to one of their games, racially abusing someone, getting them a pts deduction (and me a life ban from their stadium, cos that would be a huge loss to me lol) and helping my team out?
Obviously, I'm not a racist nor am I moronic enough to do stuff like that, but sadly there are people out there who are both.

Been having this discussion with a few mates, where do you put the world club cup thing in the peckng order of trophies?
Obviously CL and PL are miles out on their own but where do you put the others?
FAC, Worthless Cup, EL, World Club Cup, Charity Shield, European Super Cup.

IMO this is the order, you ready because this is a matter of fact.

Joint first. PL and CL are the same for me, perhaps CL is more prestigious but the league is hard to win so same for me. Then the rest in this order.

2 - FA Cup
3 - Club World Cup
4 - Europa League
5 - League Cup (should be more prestigious because its the same as the other European domestic cups, no amature clubs involved unlike the FA Cup.
6 - UEFA Super Cup
7 - Community Shield

That is really just how I feel and what is more important to me as a fan. I certainly think the club world cup is a major trophie, you have to beat the champions of South America to win it, the rest of Europe value it highly. I'm not really sure there is another sport where the world cup is not considered a major trophie! I could actually put the Club World Cup above the FA Cup, almost.......

Lol, of course it's the most prestigious by a mile.

Great result for City last night. WTF was Mndy doing for the second goal though!?

Yeah I keep thinking at some point soon Leicester are going to start being **** again and City will start being good again, but neither have happened yet. The title race is almost certainly over but the other 3 spots are anyones at the moment.

The one thing that's really surprised me about Mourinho is that despite his reputation for 'parking the bus' he has had zero effect on Tottenhams ability to defend. They are utter ****, worse than Championship standard. How hard can it be to ask your players to make a tackle when the goal is under threat, Alderweireld just watched that Norwich goal go in and he's supposed to be a decent defender! I would honestly rather see a few boring 0-0 draws just to get some clean sheets and show some improvement at the back. We'll never win anything with this dross.

Yes, Spurs have been woeful in the first half against Norwich today. I really, REALLY hope they improve the squad in the transfer window. I realise they have some suspensions and injuries that may be affecting today's team selection, but the bottom line is that Foyth and Aurier are simply not good enough. We need better players in those positions and the entire team (minus Kane, Son and Moura, who do genuinely try) needs a good kick up the ass to learn to move the ball forwards (not sideways and backwards, thank you) quickly and effectively... you know, like EVERY team we ever play tries to do against us.

West Ham have sacked Pellegrini, they haven't had a great season but it's not like they have the squad to challenge for the title either, they're going to have to change more than the manager if they want to be anything more than a club that hovers above the relegation zone.

Our squad should be top 10, possibly challenging for top 7-8, but something is badly wrong. Front line is one of the best outside top four- Haller, Antonio, Anderson, Lanzini, Yarmolenko, yet they have been really poor (with the exception of Antonio).

Pellegrini's tactics/subs lately have been absolutely woeful. He needed to go. However, I wish Sullivan, Gold and Brady would just do one as well!

Yeah, WH should be nowhere near trouble. I am surprised how badly Pelligrini did, but not surprised he got sacked. That has been on the cards for a few months now. Moyes and Pulis are the two favourites. **** me. That's as uninspiring and underwhelming as it gets.

As for Spurs, I am surprised how poor they have been under Mourinho. Everyone knows how little I think of him, but I still expected some form of up turn in form. Yet they still look shite. I wonder is Levy realising he appointed a has-been as manager yet?

That Pukki goal that was disallowed was a joke. That's the fourth goal this eason that has been disallowed cos someone's armpit was offside. If anyone can show me a clip of someone scoring with their arm pit, (from any league, in any country, in any year) I'd love to see it.
Given there is a margin of error in the camera footage, disallowing a goal cos someone is a quarter of an inch offside, or their armpit is offside, is an utter farce. I don't know what the solution is. An 'advantage attacking player' rule only works if you specify what area they get an advanatge in, say a foot either way, then in a few weeks we will have a goal disallowed cos someone is a foot and 1mm offside and we are back to square one.
The sensible thing would be to stop ruling out goals for offside armpits. Change it to feet and heads only. But I cant see that happening.

Sad to say but that disallowed Norwich goal probably cost them 2pts, would Spurs have come back from 2 down?, and that may well result in them going down at the end of the year.

In my opinion, the answer (as I keep advocating), is to scrap the offside rule entirely :-D

Well one thing I'm going to miss about the 2010s is Spurs being a half decent team. They were **** in the 90s, **** in the 00s and it looks like the 2020s are going the same way. They didn't even turn up today, embarrassing performance. Alderweireld's reaction to the goal his mistake lead to says it all, a player that cares would be hanging his head, not shrugging his shoulders. He's been a disgrace in the last few games, conveniently following his contract renewal

I don't think the manager is the problem, you can't win games if half the players on the pitch don't give a ****. Time for Jose to clear out some dead wood.

I agree Spurs definitely need to bring in some new players. Preferably ones capable of basic passing, since none of them on the pitch today could manage that advanced skill...
