Premier League 2019/2020 Thread

You could be right. I just remember him being solid in early 90's. maybe his time at Arsenal was like Giggsy's last few yrs at Utd, super sub etc.

Henderson over Mascherano?

All French Arsenal:

Wenger

Cech (played in France, could speak French, can't believe we haven't had a French keeper   )

Sagna
Koscielny
Gallas
Clichy

Nasri
Vieira
Petit
Pires

Henry
Anelka

Ok, best ever PL French, German and Dutch 11's

French

Barthez/Lloris (both prone to a bollock drop)
Sagna
Gallas
Desailly
Evra
Makelele
Viera
Petit
Pires
Henry
Anelka

German (surprisingly pish)

Lehmann
Babbel
Huth
Ziege
Hamann
Ozil
Sane
Ballack
Schurrle/Emre Can
Klinsman
Rosler

Dutch (a nonsense formation, 2-1-3-4, but **** me look at those attacking options)

Van Der Saar
Stam
VVD
wijnaldum (someone has to do the running and make a tackle)
Overmars
Robben
Van Der Vaart
Bergkamp
Hasselbaink
Van Persie
Van Nistelrooy

Honorary mentions, Gullit (too old when he signed), Dirk Kuyt and Mario Melchiot.

Don't know really my team was to similar to yours so I changed it where I could, just thought you really missed Henderson when he got injured this season. Perhaps it was just a coincidance though? Run had to end some where I spose.

Yeah fair point.
Liverpool have been fairly mediocre for most of the PL so I suspect most 'best of' teams will be dominated by the current squad, with Gerrard, Torress, Suarez and a handful of others.

To be fair he has captained Liverpool to 2 Champions League finals winning one and 1 league title.

Oh aye, he's by no means a plodder. Personally I always rated gerrard, Alonso and Mascherano as one of the all time great three man PL midfields, and I out the latter two along side Keane/Scholes, Makelele/Lampard and Viera/Petit as the top CM pairings. What order you place those 4 pairs in is up to you, but I'm not sure I can think of a pair that comes close to those four. Given the preference for 3 man midfields now that makes it a bit harder.
That's probably why I have Mascherano in there ahead of him. Mascherano was a big part of the superb Barca teams of 10 yrs ago as well.

All very subjective. At least we can agree Moreno is nowhere near this team.

OK weasel and anyone else who fancies it, let me see your best ever prem XIs using one of the following formations;

442
433
343
352

But not allowed anyone from the team you support

Hhmmmmm ok 4-4-2 as that as been most common formation in PL

Schemichel
G Nev
Kompany
Stam
Ashley Cole
Keane
Makelele
Giggsy
KDB
Henry
Aguero

To be fair, you could change most players in that team for someone on someone else's side and they team wouldn't be massively weakened. A lot of very good players who have a decent shout of being included. And Alberto Moreno.

Ps, I excluded Shearer cos he's a wanker. My team, so **** off Alan you ball bag.

Here's mine 4-3-3

Schemichel

G.Neville
Adams
Kompany
Ashley Cole

Gerrard
Ronaldo
Giggs

Cantona
Shearer
Henry

Impossible to pick really, to have to leave out Bergkamp, Lampard, Terry, Ferdinand, Rooney, Vidic, Veira, Scholes, Keane, Drogba and all the ones that are still playing! Ridiculously hard. RVN, RVP, Evra and on and on............

Yeap, all of those bar Cantona and John Terry (same as Shearer) could walk into my team.

I used to hate Drogba, he always saved his best for games against Pool. ****er scored every time he played us.

The thing with Shearer for me is he played for Southampton, Blackburn and Newcastle. Ok Blackburn were good, but I'm not many strikers would finish their careers with his record playing for those teams.

Oh and Cantona is captain of that team.

Shearer kicked Neil Lennon in the head, said he "slipped" and got off scott free cos he was England captain. He also had the world's most boring celebration, and gets paid 440k a year to come up the kinda of "analysis" a primary school kid would be embarrassed by.
Yeah, he was a great player, but he's a wanker so he gets nowhere near my team. Lol

As for Cantona....he's just sooooooo good he cud be a 1 man team, sub himself after 5 mins and still win 100-0

What about a South American PL all time 11?
Or a Spuds all time 11? Obviously Danny Rose has to captain it, just for Edd.

Spurs 11, 4-4-2

Robinson

Carr
King
Mabbutt
Assou-Ekotto

Anderton
Modric
Eriksen
Bale

Klinsmann
Kane

I might have to eat my hat because somehow our defence has been worse since he left! Impossible I thought...

I hate spurs but no Ginola? I use to love watching him. Ekotto and Carr full backs, has it really been that bad at full back for spurs during the prem era? Nothing wrong with good old Clive Wilson 🥴

I forgot about Genola! I really liked Anderton so I'll keep him in. I'm really not sure about the full backs. :?
