Premier League 2019/2020 Thread

TBF had you bent over for City, twice, Pool would still be 19pts clear. Lol

Relegation is looking like it could be close. Norwich are gone. They have won 5 games all season and need to win 5 of their last nine, not gonna happen. Shame as they are decent enough to watch. Who joins them could be any two from five.

Apparently the Norwich fans are happy to go down as they haven't spent much and played entertaining football. I guess they are getting familiar with going up and down.

Steve Bruce has proved me and many others wrong, he has actually done a good job!

Aye, TBF I think they actually spent less than Liverpool last summer. I guess if you're club is run such that the money from the PL is spent on enlarging the stadium or improving training facilities/youth set up, then long term you are better off even if you go down. Better to do that than spunk it all on stupid fees and wages for journey-men or mercenaries.

Agreed on Steve Bruce. How that team has stayed up I will never know.
Good argument for him to win the person/club that overachieves award in our predictions thread. Who wins the underachievers award is another story.

Surely that accolade will go to Sheffield United

****, yeah, ehh fair point. SU for the team award and Steve Bruce for the individual award

20 mins gone in Spurs game and Lloris has had two saves to make, and he's ****ed them both up. Neither were "easy" but I would expect him to save them. He is a world cup winning captain FFS. Neither were requiring worldy saves.
Tad harsh on Spurs as they have been the better side. Only difference is Spurs make individual mistakes and when they attack the final ball is pish. When RB attack they rip Spurs apart every time, even when there are twice as many Spurs defenders as RB attackers.

It's the same old ****, all anyone talks about is Kane and Son being injured but Spurs have no problem up front, they've made some decent chances. It's the defence that lets them down every time. It's just too easy, yes Lloris has had a shocker but even so we might as well not have a back four.

Spurs have got problems but Leipzig deserve some credit, they are well drilled and think they will give any team a good fight in the qaurters.

Agreed with you both. Spurs back four/five/six have been shocking. Some of the defending last night was pish. Jose is supposed to be able to organise a defence....
Leipzig looked decent last night. Although Spurs were so flat and toothless it wasn't hard for anyone to look good.

I was amazed at how directionless Spurs were. Yeah, they have their two best strikers out, but that team just looked beaten from the start. They didn't look like they had any belief or any idea what they were supposed to be doing. Very worrying with regards to their CL or EL qualification chances for next year.

Yeah exactly, if it was a solid display bar fnding the net, you could agree that being without Kane and Son is the issue. But they are useless from back to front at the moment, there is no quality throughout the entire team on the pitch. Lloris' best days are behind him, Vertonghen is getting on a bit, Alderweireld doesn't really care, Dier is like one of those guys who downed two pints before a Sunday League match, and Winks is about 12. And god knows what's happened to Alli, hasn't done anything decent for months. I'd love to blame it all on our two top strikers being injured, but it's simply not true. For a start he needs to just choose a back four and stick with it for a while, he changes it every match, and every match they concede a goal within 15 minutes.

Arghhhhhhhh Adrian.
**** me.

Pool do the hard work and get in front against the most horrible team to play against in world footy and instantly Adrian ****s it away.
That goal, the way it came about and the fact it happened so soon after Pool took the led, killed the game.

Another pish keeper to add to pools collection. Has any club had as many bad ones as pool?
James, dudek, westerveld, jones, arphexad, mingers, karius and now Adrian.

Saying that, they should have won in normal time, on another day it would have been 3 or 4 and no one wud have battered an eye lid. I guess you cant legislate for **** ups like that but it's just so frustrating. Atletico r a horrible side too. They have joined PSG on my list of clubs I'd happily see **** off and stay ****ed off.

That game last night could have gone either way, was going to be a mistake that decided it or pens once it went to extra time. Liverpool have been outstanding for the last 2 seasons, they have put themselves up their as the team to beat, that's the hardest part of being succesfull.

A bit worrying if the season is even going to be completed, at this rate the Euros will be off. :?

And looks like all sport may be banned by the government soon too. Not going to complain as a Spurs fan to be honest, might buy us some time to resolve some injuries

**** is gonna get interesting if they postpone games. When are they going to play them? Will nxt season start late? Euro's postponed a year cancelled? Can Liverpool get last night's game replayed as clearly Adrian had Corona

Its all over the shop with this banning of sporting events. The Euros could get psotponed until 2021, they start in June but then the European Judo Championships are postponed until June 2020!

Arteta has tested positive for the virus, Colney and Hale End are both closed for a deep clean and the full 1st team squad is now in self isolation.

Fingers crossed all those impacted make a full recovery.

All football suspended until start of April.

What the **** am I supposed to do now? Talk to the wife!?

If you did I'm sure she would be shocked...

If only this could have happened five games ago

I'm sure it will all work out in the end, but I wonder if there's any chance of the season being abandonded, or replayed? New territory for the PL. While us Spurs fans are delighted at games being abandoneded, I bet Liverpool fans aren't!

I cant see it being abandoned. That would leave FA/UEFA open to endless legal cases. What do you do about promotion and relegation? Ditto European spots. You can't even say the table as it is stands, as Sheff Utd have played one game less than those round them. They win that (I think it's Villa) and they are fifth and in a potential CL spot. As it stands they are in the last EL spot. Or if City get their ban over turned, they miss out. What Chairman is going to accept missing out on a potential CL windfall just cos the FA calls off the season?
Villa are second bottom, if the season is abandoned they go down. They have a game in hand that could move them up to 16th.

If you don't have promotion and relegation the teams in the Championship and below will go buck daft as they miss out on PL money.
Also, how are CL spots allocated if you don't do promotion or relegation.

Finally, can you imagine the bitchfest if Liverpool miss out on their first title in 30 yrs cos the FA scrap the season?

I suspect games will be played behind closed doors if necessary in June or July, just to get the season finished.

Not like you can go much later as players will have moved clubs by the time the new season starts and that opens a whole new can of worms.

I think the Euros will be postponed until June 2021, so all the domestic leagues can be completed in the summer.

Personally I think they should just forget about this season, no more trophies handed out, call it a dud season and start fresh in August.
