Preloved AT-ST. One careful owner

At the end of the day this could have easily been thrown away in the bin, but you saw the potential in it and brought it back to life. I think it's a great job well done. :D

I think you have done a great work with that AT-ST wish I was as good as you to repair one like that :D

If I was you I would only use original stickers, try to remove some from a damaged walker.

Sorry to see all that ewok blood  , I love ewoks

Xpack "Will that work? :?"

Yes, tried and tested. :D

So long as you soak it long enough and obviously take care when removing. If any part is still stuck, then soak it a little longer. Usually peel of easily and cleanly.

It was I that managed to remove the ink from the Yak Face as mentioned above. The thing to remember is that no amount of scrubbing (or sandpaper PLEASE) will remove the ink as it is soaked into the plastic. You need to be able to draw it out.

So get some strong oxo cream. Smother the parts with the ink marks and leave it to dry under a lamp. Leave it overnight (with the lamp on) or outside all day on a sunny day. Then scrub the cream off. Then reapply and do it all over again, and again and again until the ink is gone.

Trust me, it really does work.

I would love to see how you do, can you record it ? :D

I'll see if I've got a spare AT ST head to make a tutorial. Although is basically just soaking till they come off easily. :D

One should be made on how to put them back together. I wonder how many springs have bounded off across the room or upside down legs during an AT ST reconstruction.

I wouldn't recommend ever taking the head off or splitting the head despite having a good technique. Very easy to snap the teeth holding the head on.

I have a vintage 12" Obi Wan which has a couple of tiny mould spots on his head and wondered if this spot cream idea would work on removing them? The head is a softer rubber so it worries me slightly that it might react badly with the cream but it would be interesting to hear anyone's thoughts on this.

Panoxyl Aquagel 10% is apparently the dogs whotsits.

Appears to work well on Action Man soft heads.

That first photo is quite disturbing

Excellent restoration job! Worthy of Retroblasting!

There is one on You Tube I believe - from the guy who had the unknown boxed Emperor (he's a member on here too).

Well, it's finally time to bring this story to a conclusion. Thanks to FuzzyBuzz for the suggestion of Oxy cream, and Twin30mm for the Magic Eraser. A combination of both of them and a lot of scrubbing has removed most of the pink.

It's not completely gone, but he displays well and leaves just enough pink to keep the memories intact. He now takes pride of place on display, and has been saved from a life of ignominy at the bottom of a storage box.

And reunited with the rest of the childhood survivors (with one notable absence, bear with me...)

And finally where he belongs - on display:

I mentioned one other survivor. Sadly this will have to be a project for another day. Really not quite sure what to do with it. I believe this is the actual Snowspeeder Luke crashed on Hoth. It's definitely been stepped on by an AT-AT or two.

That's come up a treat, wouldn't believe it's the same ATST

Good luck with the speeder :)

Fantastic story and a sterling effort, you've clearly got some hard working elbows :)

That looks superb, you should go into business. I'll let you do mine for free if you want? :?

 I don't think I'm ready to turn professional quite yet! My toothbrush and scrubbing arm are both warn out. The experts at Toy Polloi and RetroBlasting can sleep soundly for now...
