Im annoyed by the amount of hassle I get on a daily basis from companies claiming I'm owed PPI.

But my questions is, anyone here actually tried to claim back PPI? I have had enough loans/credit cards and mortguages in the past I'm probably owed something somewhere. And I like free money.

Is it worth it?

Wowsers

Yup avoid the PPI companies, I have heard horror stories of people who have had currently running loans reclaimed and the PPI company have sent them a bill for the fees on money they have saved them that they have not paid yet, if that makes sense.

go on moneysaving expert website and usefree template to send letter to all companies, its free and they have to respond.

PPI companies charge extortionate fees for sending the same letter!!

Yep, and its a piece of cake. Just called up the bank and said I thought I'd been misold PPI. It was as easy as that. Got a couple of hundred quid back. I'd advise anyone who's had a credit card over the last few years to do it.

I did one myself. Got about 900 quid. There are agreed rates of interest. Basically, if you were sold ppi on a loan then you must have been made aware of the terms and conditions. If the ppi was unsuitable or you didn't need it then it was mid sold.

Examples are if you were self employed, if you had savings that would have covered the loan, things like that. Also, some companies sent loan agreements to be signed to complete the loan application and auto ticked the ppi box. That is also pretty extreme mis selling.

I got 1300 back after they took a cut.know loads of people who got sone back.if youve had loads of loans .credit cards it def be worth doing.

Also each time I took a loan .credit card I never took protection bit they slyed it on

I get a call a day about reclaiming PPI from my personal loan. When I ask them what personal loan (I've never had one) they soon shut up. I got bored of doing that and asking them to take me off their ****ing list so I just ignored the calls for a while. Now I've taken to answering the phone out of breath and saying "it's done, but there's blood everywhere. ****, what's that....." then hanging up. Just waiting for the police to come and arrest me one of these days!

I just tell them I am going to put them on hold for a minute, put the phone down and leave it there until they get bored and hang up...

Yep, go for it. But as others say, do it yourself if you can. I claimed back £11,640 which made my day to say the least. Didn't even need any of the original paperwork, very easy!
