Hey Steel Panther are awesome! Too bad they'll be remembered as a "parody" band and not for the true musicianship they have.

I'm not so sure on the question. Are we looking for just "icons" post G n' R? Either for success or rock n' roll debauchery? If we're looking past 1987, I'd say the following.

I'd nominate Scott Weiland for living the lifestyle.

Not my fave, but Tom Morello is a modern day guitar god.

If rock was given the same reverence now as it was in the 70's and 80's, I'd say Nuno would be an absolute legend. Seen Extreme live a couple of times, and the guy is simply incredible.

I'm not sure what this guy is doing nowadays but Yngwie Malmstein was a guitar virtuoso, and he knew it!

Agreed, however i think Jason Becker blew him to bits before he got ALS. Such a shame that a talented guy was struck down so early in his life - he would have been a megastar.

For anyone who doesnt know who Jason is, read up on him and if you can, watch his film - 'Not dead yet' . The guy still makes music with his eyes :shock: A real gem of a musician and nothing got in his way.
