Hey Steel Panther are awesome! Too bad they'll be remembered as a "parody" band and not for the true musicianship they have.
I'm not so sure on the question. Are we looking for just "icons" post G n' R? Either for success or rock n' roll debauchery? If we're looking past 1987, I'd say the following.
I'd nominate Scott Weiland for living the lifestyle.
Not my fave, but Tom Morello is a modern day guitar god.
If rock was given the same reverence now as it was in the 70's and 80's, I'd say Nuno would be an absolute legend. Seen Extreme live a couple of times, and the guy is simply incredible.
