Yeah, they should still be able to compete. The fact they are a money making machine sees to that, but it was also what attracted the Glaziers.
Whilst I can sympathise with the fans who hate the Glaziers, once Utd listed there was always the risk they would be bought over. That is the risk they took in return for the millions the listing got them. You gotta take the rough with the smooth.

So are Wolves actually really good, or did Spurs and Liverpool both just not turn up against them

I think it's a bit of both, Liverpool have half ducked out of the FA Cup this year as they no this is a great chance to win the league. Wolves are by far the best team promoted and have taken points of Spurs, Man City and Man Utd in the league. Not that beating Utd is hard these days.

Did you see the Liverpool "team"? Moreno and Mingers started along with Origi, Sturridge and 2 kids. Then Lovern limps off after 3 mins and on comes a wee lad who needed his mum's permission to be there. Liverpool were woeful in the first half, but if Wolves couldn't beat that team they have no right to be PL.

I had a funny feeling Jürgen would field a very weakened side and we'd be having this conversation. Liverpool's record in the FAC recently is woeful. 3 wins in 10 games. Those wins came against Everton, Plymouth and Exeter City. The latter two came in a replays as well.

Wolves are far from a bad side, but that Liverpool team would be bottom six or worse in the PL if it played every week.

Well that wasn't a convincing win against Chelsea, but for once Spurs did what I wanted to see! Snatch the lead and then hang on to it. It's so hard for a team to score if you shut up shop, and that's exactly what Spurs have been unable to do in some really important games that they have gone on to lose. It's not pretty, it's stressful, but sometimes you've got to do it. I'd happily sit through another 90 minutes of it in the return leg to get to the final.

About time we beat the Gooners! Totally deserved the win- really pleased with how Pellegrini is developing the side. We out Arsenal'd Arsenal at times! All with tonnes of injuries. Rice is one helluva player 8)

Well Utd are looking decent today and Spurs seem tired, I'm not happy about that goal though. Obviously learned nothing from the win against Chelsea last week. How on earth do you end up with a one on one with the keeper from that position? I know - by having no ****ing defenders! Yes Trippier made a massive mistake giving the ball away, but he was 3 quarters of the way up the pitch, how can there be nobody covering the keeper from that far up the pitch? Spurs are not going to win this game unless Poch has a rethink for the second half.

I think Spurs were incredibly unlucky to come out of that game with nothing, the final scoreline flatters United a lot. Spurs could have scored five in the second half, De Gea had the game of his career and it just wouldn't go in. One of those results where you can't really fault the players, apart from one lapse of concentration and a stupid, lucky goal. I think Solskjaer will feel relieved rather than unstoppable after that.

Agreed, the result flatters Utd a lot. On another day several of the shots Spurs peppered De Gea's goal with would have gone in, but he played very well, plus most of Spurs' shots were hit quite close to him, making saving them a lot more possible. It's disappointing for Spurs, but they can be proud of the way they played overall.

He's a world class keeper, hitting it within a foot of him is asking for it to be saved.

The difference in that game was Rashford put his chance in the far corner and gave Lloris no chance. Kane, Alli and Llorente all put theirs straight at DDG. He made a few decent saves, as did Lloris but if Spurs had tried the revolutionary tactic of aiming for somewhere NOT at the keeper, they would have won.

Also am I the only person who thinks Pogba was a waste of space in the second half and was lucky to stay on. Happy with the result though.

I saw DDG made 11 saves, but I bet at least 9 where straight at him, or at least within a foot and a half. One diving two handed save springs to mind but the rest were straight at him.


And yeah, Burnley win without havng a shot on target. Fifth time it has happened in PL history and the first time a side has scored twice without having a shot on target. Impressive stuff.

Saints pulling away from trouble along with the afore mentioned Burnley. Could be 3 from 4. Though someone normally implodes. Palace could still be dragged in to it. The other two round them have positive momentum. Palace are just very meh.

City seem to be back on track, looks like it could be a close title this season. Interesting fixtures this weekend, Arsenal v Chelsea being the main one. See Huddersfield are looking for a new manager, big Sam anyone?

Yes Spurs are lucky that Chelsea and Arsenal are playing each other next, there is no bad result for us in that match. The title race is still wide open that's for sure, as is top four. I can even see Utd sneaking in there now.

I still think Spurs are in with an outside chance of the title, plenty of twists hopefully. All it's going to take from Liverpool is another good run and it will be hard to stop them. Easier said than done though.

I can't see Spurs winning the title. They would need a big auld slip from Pool AND City, as well as them to go nearly unbeaten for the rest of the season.
One of those three things may happen, possibly two, but you won't get all three. Sorry Spurs fans.

I thought City were a tad fortunate last night. I only half watched the game, I had a munchkin who didn't seem to want his bottle or to understand daddy wanted to watch the footy, but the foul that Bony got sent off for was all but identical to the one Kompany only got a yellow for against Pool. Maybe it was the auld "big team" thing, where refs find it easier to send someone off if they don't play for a "big" side. Either way it just highlights the inconsistency of refereeing, again. I also wasn't too sure on the penalty. I only saw one view of it, but Sterling looked to go down like a fairy. Ok Zaha has made a career of that, but it looked soft to me. Even so City were already 1 up and cruising when yer man got sent off and the penalty didn't affect the out come of the game, just the scale of the victory.

Dreadful managerial appointment by Forest, have they not seen any ROI games from the last few years!?

As for Huddersfield, Wagner's assistant is being talked about. I could see him getting it full time as the Chairman seemed happy enough to keep Wagner on (he left cos he wanted a break).
