Not the best prep for Spurs on Wednesday

Wednesday is going to be interesting, both clubs have a habit of putting out a team of school kids in the early league cup matches, but will they for this fixture? Having lost at the Emirates a few weeks back Spurs could do with a win to restore face, but will Poch take the risk of playing a decent squad? I think he should because regardless of the fact it's against Arsenal, the league cup is as usual our best chance of winning something.
I think both clubs consider top 4 more important than the league cup, if for no other reason than they are both ran with a tight grip on the business. I'd love to win it though and I think it would be fantastic if we both went balls to the wall for the win with full strength sides. As you say though it'll more likely be the under 21s with a smattering of first teamers

Same old same old from Man Utd today, that result was so predictable. Liverpool are flying though and I'm not sure many teams could have stopped them today.  Two jamy deflected goals though.

The CL draw is done:

Schalke v Manchester City
Atletico Madrid v Juventus
Manchester United v Paris St-Germain
Tottenham v Borussia Dortmund
Lyon v Barcelona
Roma v Porto
Ajax v Real Madrid
Liverpool v Bayern Munich

Don't think Spurs have much hope of beating Dortmund, TBH there aren't really any easy fixtures in that lot. It's going to come down to form on the day.

When you get down to being one of the best 16 teams across all of Europe, its unlikely that any game is a easy one. I think we could've drawn tougher opposition and believe we have a chance to squeeze past them actually. No one thought we'd turn RM over last year or get any kind of result against Barcelona after all... Never know we could do two un-spursy things - Buy some decent players in January and play a game at home!
Both of which would help massively

Don't panic, the draw for proper European competition is up next

You got the mighty... Bate Borisov! Typical Arsenal, they've drawn the only team out of 32 I've never heard of

Really enjoyed the Liverpool Utd game, not only was it a decent game but Utd were pretty decent in the first half I thought. The final score was a bit misleading IMO.

Ehhh did you see the first 30 mins!? Utd barely had a touch. Granted the last 15 were a lot more even, cheers Alison!

Yeah, I will give you the element of luck in the last two Pool goals, but Utd's had a degree of fortune about it as well. I think a two goal margin was a fair result. If anything it maybe could have been more. Pool were a lot better than Utd. Yes, we see less good teams win week in week out, but if you were to watch the game, bar the goals, and be asked what the score was you'd probably have given Pool a 2 goal lead, or more.
Jose is gone as soon as Utd are mathematically out of CL contention. That Utd team is dire. No direction or style of play at all. That is Jose's job. Teams/players can play badly but you should still be able to see what their manager set them out to do. I have no idea what Utd's game plan is. That wasn't just yesterday that's been the case all season.

City will destroy Schalke. They are bottom 6 in Germany. Think a good Burnley. That's as good as a bye for them. Barca will do the same to Lyon and I fancy Roma to beat Porto. The others should all be good games. Atletico Juve looks tasty.
I think PSG are beatable. They are a good Kevin Keegan side. Amazing going forward but they can be got at. That front three don't even pretend to track back. But the way Utd are playing it could be messy. Two months until the game though.
Spurs Dortmund is gonna be a brilliant game for the neutral. I do think Spurs have a chance, assuming they don't play like they did in their first 3 CL games. Pool Bayern should be good. Bayern are a fading force, still quality but not as good as they have been.

As for the EL. Meh.
Arsenal and Chelsea's reserves will cruise past that dross. Celtic will lose.

Yes how times change!

He's gone, who we gonna get in? Jose sacked. Woodward needs to go now as well IMO.

Micheal Carrick caretaker manager till end of season.

This seems a strange choice, surely won't be looking to do much in January?

You never no could be a good move. :? At least he will have a group of players that will be trying. What an opportunity for Michael Carrick.

Given half the squad seemed to have fallen out with Jose you could get quite the new manager bounce

I think it had to happen, when the relationship has broken down to that extent there's really no way to get it back. Massive decision for Utd now!

Yes huge decision, I wouldn't want to be making it. I would have like to see him turn it around but was never going to happen. We've got a nice run of fixtures now until Spurs in January, what an opportunity for Carrick.

Should have happened six months ago. His position has been untenable for a long long time. The man is poison. Utd knew what his track record was when they appointed him.

Rumour is caretaker until the end of the season. That makes sense as there aren't any proven managers available. Zidane maybe, but I'm not sure he counts a proven. Real is VERY different to normal club management. You have a 50:50 shot at La Liga and a CL semi final spot near enuf guaranteed. Bar Barca no other club offers that. Plus, would he want Utd? It's a mess of a club, with a shite squad and (sorry Utd fans) a massive step down from Real!?

My money is on them trying to poach Potchetino from Spurs. Either way it's a massive decision for the Board given they ****ed the last 3 choices up so badly.

PS, Jose please stay ****ed off this time you horrible little ****.

Real learnt their lesson with Jose. The man is poison. You get a good season, maybe two, then he starts to fall out with people and his general demeanour starts to grate. By the third season he is a liability. They won't take him back.
He's probably done at top level management. Real have had him, so Barca won't touch him (not that he would fit their style anyway), Atletico would be a remote possibility but as a step down from Real his ego may not let him take it. Chelsea and Utd have had him and won't be asking for me. Arsenal/Pool/Spuds/City aren't dumb enough and know what he does to clubs. Bayern have long said they would never employ him. He's managed Inter so all he is left with is Juve or PSG. Not sure either would be keen on him. PSG have too many egos for his style of management to work (though those egos need reigned in). Juve tend to stick with Italian managers.

Hopefully wherever he ends up next I never have to see his miserable sour bake ever again.

I've just seen Wenger touted as favourite! That would be interesting
