PL 2015-16 Chat

Apparently Chelsea have told Spurs to name their price for Danny Rose.

Has Mourinho not seen any highlights from last season at all? First he signs Falcao and now he wants Danny Rose? What odds Liverpool could persuade him to take Ballotelli? Lol

OMG.. please say this is true... £2.50 and half a mars bar?

You're a bit optimistic there! Half a Mars bar is probably pushing it!

It's in the Daily Mirror so ehhh must be true.

I have a real love-hate relationship with Rose, occasionally he makes a massive tackle or something, but I can think of so many games he has single-handedly thrown away (eg the FA Cup game against Arsenal 2 seasons ago where he fell over while being the last man back  )

I think I would be happy to see him go too. I'm all for attacking defenders, as long as they remember what their main job is. Far too often he is up the pitch while the likes of Kane or Erikssen are at the back bailing him out.

So Di Maria to PSG, that'a got to be one of the biggest dud signings in Utds history?

Has it gone through?

I'm amazed that he flopped at Utd, the guy is pure class. I suppose it could just be one of those moves that, for no apparent reason, doesn't work out. However, I'd be looking at Van Gaal and wondering quite how the **** he managed to turn a world class player (and he is/was at Real anyway) into some one who looked like a Sunday League plodder/worse than Ashley Young! That takes serious talent.

The article I read seemed to be blaming it on all the different positions he was asked to play, and Utds general lack of structure. It does happen a lot though, Soldado! (Somebody buy him please)

Veron, Forlan, Mascherano (at WH), Pique, Pogba.....

Happens quite a lot. Still very strange tho

Well more of what we've come to expect from Spurs, their knack of having incredibly bad luck continues. I'd love to know the odds of having 4-0 shots on goal and be losing  I thought they were OK for the first 30 minutes, the rest of the game was a bit of a non-event, they could have scored a couple near the end too. Wasn't expecting to win this game so not too worried, I'd rather lose the few big games and cruise through the 'easy' ones this season, would be nice to see some consistency. I can only think of about two comfortable wins last season.

And which genius thought two overseas friendly matches three days before the first game of the PL season was a good idea? Lloris with a hand injury, just what they need.

Saw bits of the game. Best finish i've seen in a while. He gave the keeper no chance!
Saying that though, why did Shrek take a touch? Surely a decent striker wud have burried that first time and been off half way through his celebration, rather than taking a touch and leaving it for the defender to finish?

Utd were pretty unimpressive. First game and rustiness is to be expected, but Michael Owen summed it up well (for the first time ever) "workman like". We may have to get used to Utd grinding out results rather than the old swashbuckling side if the Fergy years.

What a start to the season! Soooooo happy with that - Reece Oxford is a Rolls Royce. Payet, Sakho, Ogbonna, Kouyate, Adrian... in fact the whole team, were awesome today. Lawro can eat his words about Oxford- said he'd be a lamb to the slaughter today. Muppet

The wee lad done well. Arsenal at their worst today, dominated possession but created the sum total of FA. Peter Cech had two things to do and ****ed them both up.

So far Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal have all looked flat. liverpool aren't looking much better so far. Beneteke has perfected his Ballotelli impersonation, the ****er hasn't broken into a jog yet.

Yeah unconvincing start to the season all round so far! I bet the bookies have made a killing this weekend, lots of shock results. Should be an interesting season based on this weekend :)

That bit of class from coutinho was totally at odds with the rest of that game, **** it was poor.

What I saw this weekend was a lot of teams of the same quality - for me, none of the 'big teams' really stood out - have a feeling that this is going to be a close one this season - the usual suspects will get to the top because of their squad depths but the likes of Swansea, Southampton, Stoke and West Ham will all be up there for sure

Certainly none of the "big" sides looked good. A combination of rustiness, a lot of new players getting used to the team, and a general flatness where evident.
Chelsea have the fewest excuses with no new players being added (Costa doesn't count as a player), but then no Jose Mourinho team has ever been anything other than mind numbingly boring to watch. This is a man who mad Real Madrid hard to watch. Looks like Utd are going to be similarly dull under Van Gaal. They didn't look good at any stage last year and first impressions are that will continue. Liverpool's game was so bad bar Coutinho's goal the adverts at half time were the best bit.

Still only, one game in, early days yet.

i thought Liverpool result was a massive one, a loss would have been catastrophic with the 7 away games to come.

thought both full backs did really well first game, Ibe looks a real menace.

This is what makes the PL the best in the world. If Man Shitty get trounced tonight it'd be awesome. Shocks and turns at every corner.

Yeah if Man City win by more than 2 goals tonight all of a sudden they will be favourites to win the league.

Glad your ankle is getting better. :)
