As our resident vintage sticker album guru I thought this would be your kind of question!

I had a sticker album as a kid, pretty sure it was Panini and it was all about 3 or 4 characters fighting and doing quests in order to get rid of some bad bloke and an army of orcs and goblins! Sure there was a barbarian character, a dwarf and a wizard (very LOTR style)

I am pretty sure it wasnt based on a cartoon but the style of the stickers was cartoony, every now and again there would be a silver hologram sticker as well (usually a boss or something that the hero defeated)

Ring any bells? It's doing my nut in!

Nope Emi, adults :(

I had a search on the Panini site archive but turned up nothing.

It was reasonably graphic (for a cartoon sticker book) - Orcs and goblins getting sliced and diced but in a very cartoony way!

Hmmm. Does not ring a bell with me and i've seen most from that era. My first thought was Dungeons and Dragons too. But to my knowledge there's no such album.
"Silver" stickers didn't really come into play until the mid 80s and then EVERY set had them. For example Masters of the Universe (1983), ROTJ (1983), ET (1982) no silvers. But Transformers (1986), Short Circuit (1987), Ghostbusters (1988) all had silvers. Ghostbusters is the first i remember with holograms. If yours had holograms it could well be post 1988.
Are you sure it was a Panini album and not Merlin?

Guru!

Ok will go have a look at Merlin stuff! Going on a google mission!

Could this have been the HeroQuest sticker series from the early 90s???

Snap! You got it :D

Thanks guys!

Ha!, you guys got it at the same time. (well done pigcity)

Yeah, it somehow didn't sound like a Panini album and the holograms made it sound very late 80s or early 90s.

I have seen this album around but never owned it myself. Looks cool.
You gonna buy one Joe or just wanted to satisfy your curiosity?

I might pick one up if they aren't too pricey, really nostalgic for me, my aunt/nan/parents used to take me to get a pack of stickers each week!

Saw these on ebay but nothing much else - http://www.ebay.co.uk/csc/martin.2010/m.html?_nkw=HERO&_sacat=0&LH_Complete=1&_odkw=&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3911.c0.m270.l1313

Those look like bargains Joe. These albums look like they're not easy to find. I just searched 4 different ebays and nothing!
Bare in mind that i just sell Thundercats albums for £35 and i sold an album and full set for £110. (same with Transformers). But ot be fair most stuff from the 90s is not nearly as valuable as the 80s stuff.
If you can get hold of an album and or set for under £40 i think that's good value.

i remember getting the hero quest board game for xmas, reminded me of conan the destroyer which is still one of my fave films

Wow, finally managed to track down one of these. And it only took 5 months!! Seriously one of the hardest lines i've ever tried to track down. It's funny how the term "rare" usually gets thrown around for actually quite popular and relatively common stuff. Yak face for instance of which there are usually 15 to 20 on sale on ebay at all times. This is the ONLY empty Hero Quest sticker album that has come up for sale in the 5 months since this thread was started. I'm pretty thorough too. Search for it at least once or twice a week. There was one that came up a couple of months ago (May) but it wasn't empty and it wasn't in great condition so i passed. Started to regret it tho as it went cheap and i was starting to wonder if i'd ever see an empty one. :?
I've not seen any packs come up for sale yet.

I'll try to get some pictures done in the week. 8)
