A recent trip to parents has got me reacquainted with my old Panini Stickers and Topps Cards

I have just completed Topps Garbage Pail Kids Series 1 & 2 from 85/86. Last card I needed was Ray Gun and he's now in the folder. These stickers / cards are really great in a non PC world. I think series 1 & 2 are worth a little bit too, which is nice.

I've managed to complete football 87 - long story but done.

I am now going to somehow complete Football 85,86 & Mexico 86. And might have a go at Gremlins and Transformers too as have a fair amount of loose there.

Anyone else got anything going on with vintage Panini ? And dare I ask, any old stickers anyone wants to sell ?

We traded some messages on the main page a few weeks back on this subject so know they're of some interest.

Their is a thread where someone completed an album this year, its a good story. I completed my USA 94' album about 10 years ago with the last sticker I needed from ebay. Its great that you can still complete these retro albums, who would have thought it!

I had an old Panini world cup 82 Espana album completed by me back in the day in fair condition, I couldn't believe what people were asking for this completed book on e bay, think I have a league 79 as well when I dug them out it really brought back memories of swapsys in the playground, the players permed hair and holidays in Spain at the time of the world cup, remember the peseta's having the 82 logo on them. :D

I have a few old albums from when i was a kid. Probably not completed. Can you buy old stickers on evil bay? I assume, it is ebay after all, that half of them are fake/knock offs from China?

Pretty easy to pick them up on eBay, but yeah I'm sure their are many fakes. Saying that not sure if it's worth faking them as they don't go for much and their must be millions knocking around.

It's been that long since I saw any of them I would hardly know a fake from an original anyway.

That thought did cross my mind about the fakes, who really cares. But no if your going to complete an old album you need to do it with original stickers for sure.

I completed the '85 album with Steve Ogrizovic, goalkeeper for coventry, I remember this kid.. Adam Reece had him and I swapped a sandwich box full of swaps for him... I'd have been 9. There was this old boy must have been in his late 70's who used to collect them too and when I went to watch my dad play football as a kid, w'd always sit on the side lines each week and do swaps. Use to always look forward to that, then we'd sit and watch the game and give my dad grief :D .

I actually started collecting them again at uni and I think another season since then when I had x1000 more dispoable income to throw at it and didnt get round to completing the album either time. Just shows you can have the cash but you cant beat a 9yr old's determination to swap his way to completing his album on the school playground. :D

Just the best memories really, loved panini footbal stickers, almost on par with SW.

Great story 2stripes I hope I'm still collecting Star Wars and stickers when I'm in my 70's.

Some progress made. I have, through the magic of eBay, managed to complete a Mexico 86 Panini album and I am now working on Football 85.

I found a seller who recovers and restores the old stickers and they are, honestly, absolutely superb. I got some
Mexico stickers which were original and these recovered ones too and they are 100% bang on the money quality wise.

Now the next question is how the hell do you manage to recover these yourself....no idea and not even an indication via YouTube or web search. Tips welcomed.

Anyway, anyone out there with Football 85 or 86 stickers and albums for sale or trade. Give me a shout.
