I'm proud to announce the opening of the Vectis Palitoy Time Capsule Lot 238 from the July 2014 auction. If anyone has any information on the contents of the scrapbooks then please post below.

Enjoy - Richard

Great to see, felt like it was myself digging through it!

For me the two letters were the winning items (as well as that VCJ), and it was interesting to note that only 8 of the figures were sent out at first. I know the DSC, Sand People and Jawa were delayed but any thoughts on the fourth one? Also it would be good to know the date (if there's one), on that first letter and second one to get an idea of when Palitoy released these figures.

One other thing is that the cardboard piece with the 12 figures on is from the side of the Death Star box and the food items cut out are from and Lyons ice lollies.

Thanks for sharing and that death Star canopy is a beauty as well as the play set having the instructions with it. :D

Ian

Rich, having just watched the video for the second time I recognise 90% of the star wars related cuttings, adverts and posters from issues of star wars weekly.

Thanks guys. I thought the food packaging was Lyons.

The canopy is really clear. If it was FS people would say it was repro. It's not FS BTW if anyone is interested. :D

The 8 figures I believe are:

R2D2, C3PO, Luke, Chewbacca, Vader, Ben, Leia and Han. That's because they are the in the photo underneath the results snipping. Stormtrooper is added to make 9 on the results photo.

I can't see any dates for the paperwork or competition unfortunately.

Thanks for clearing that up about the figures releases. I know I've read somewhere here before about the release dates....maybe Dave Tree? shame there's no dates to the letters but might be something to talk about in the podcast at some point?

I recently picked up a really clear canopy on the sales thread here but I know these can go for a fair amount on ebay if no one bights here.

Ian

I feel that this could easily be a Palitoy Jawa considering the other figures- unfortunately we will never know.

A very interesting film, especially in real-time. Opening a time capsule like that is gold dust.

Most of the items in the scrap books has been cut out from Star Wars Weekly and 2000AD. Off the top of my head I can identify;

8:29. The droids art is from Letraset writing pad.
9:06. Chewbacca art is from Letraset Chewbacca’s space notes.
13:25. Luke Skywalker cut out from the Death Star box photo (perhaps the other characters fell off of the page)
13:35. Photograph from the side of the Death Star box.
17:56. Death Star scene from SW Weekly issue 2 that has been coloured in.
20:33. Han Solo and Chewbacca colour photo from 2000AD 1977 Summer Special which broke the news early in the U.K about Star Wars.
20:45. 2000AD 1977 Summer Special.
21:19. 2000AD 1977 Summer Special
21:31. 2000AD 1977 Summer Special
22:48. Free Poster SW Weekly issue 14 and the free poster from issue 13.
26:15. Lyons Maid lolly wrappers. Pictures from 2000AD 24th December, Issue 44 which said in capital letters; “Go out and see Star Wars – It is the best film of all time!”

I’d be interested if anyone can spot anything Star Wars orientated in the Scrap books that isn’t from the weekly comic.

Craig.

Great watch that Rich ( twice  )

Superb to see all that SW goodness..literally a time capsule!

The letters are ace, the scrap books superb and the fact that this goes a long way in substantiating Palitoy VCJ

Great watch mate thankyou for posting for us to watch, look forward to the discussion about it moving forwards 8)

Really good to see that. You going to separate out the letters re the competition win along with the original competition? That with the figures would look awesome framed.

Superb stuff. Thanks for sharing.

A VCJ and a crystal clear Death Star Canopy all in a single loft find... Who'd of thunk it, eh! :)

Nice video chap.

Could that number be military?? Im thinking the case was maybe used by a relative of the SW collector who used it to store the items?

Watched this video twice now, absolutely love it, going through a mystery box like that must be an amazing feeling. Great video Rich cheers for sharing.

Great responses as well, makes really good reading.

Very enjoyable watch, those scrapbooks are so cool 8) Great that these items have been acquired by members of SWFUK :)

A loose Palitoy Jawa. Nice! Recognised a lot of that 2000AD stuff as I was a reader as a kid.

:D

Clear deathstar canopies do exist. I had one last year from a loft find, whilst selling it I had a certain Chinese reproacher wanting to swap it for 8 rocket fetts. No thank you LOL!!!

Thanks for sharing, really Kool to see 8) like Ian said it's as though we were rummaging through the history ourselves :D

Interesting about the first 8 figures and the Stormie making it 9, could explain why it is so hard to find a MOC Pali 12A Stormie  Also the Jawa and DSC only being found on B cards holds(although a one off A card back of the DSC did show up on eBay a few months ago ) Not a clue about the Sandpeople as I have seen more A cards then Bs

Don't think people would think ur DS canopy is a repro as it does have a slight tinge. Only the absolute crystal clear examples r suspect IMO :!: My friend got hold of a boxed DS that had sat in the loft for over 30 years and the canopy was just like ur's.

Thanks again for sharing :D
