Exactly what condition were the examples that sold for £35 & £40??
:?:

the £35 and £40 were both C8 with a small dent above the hanger - probably the same card

Here's the one I owned, which I bought and sold for around the £35 to £40 mark too

I've edited my post to show which examples had clear bubbles

Cheers for the pics mate, yeh well bit of a bargain but let's face it, over the years we have seen many unbelivable bargains on ebay! I can rem a Palitoy 12 back Leia in real nice condition C-8.5/9 going for £310 a few years ago and that was an auction not a buy now!! Seller was Paul Mason, 'Darthmasonic'

no problem :)

In answer to Lee's earlier question, the only SW character on an ESB card I've seen in recent years is a privately sold Luke Skywalker on a 41 back. I think it went for around £350 and may well be in Lee's collection too :)

Bloody hell £350 for a 41 Luke, I wish it was in my collection Andy, especially at that price, sadly it is not.
I have a 41 Han Solo,Ben,Leia R2 all courtesy of Mr Smith I believe.
Also a LXW and Fet, but I suppose in Palitoy terms Fett is an ESB character and not SW???

This is turning into a quality discussion. Hope Heith appreciates all this. And realises what he's started!!

Lee, with regards to the Leia Hoth, I can only base it on what I have seen and when I was hunting the 41 backs down around 10 years ago, she turned up all the time. I remember selling mine in 2004. And bought another one without a problem in 2005. Possibly not in the same league as Lobot or Han hoth but not far off.

With regards to the Luke and Leia, in my defence I didn't put them in an 'easy' group as such. They are kind of in the middle. Including all version of logo'd luke Bespins I've owned about 8, without trying, most of which were 30 back. I know people who currently own several 30 backs and in fact there is one on eBay now (not great I know) and there was another on there not so long ago. Most people who have been trying to complet eht 30 back run usually have a luke and leia (along with Lando, HRS and HH) Far less of them have the next 5 in that release. ( some have all of them twice  )

Prices are the most unpredicatable that they have ever been, as far as I can see. I have seen 45a AT AT commanders sell for £200. I'm still in shock following on from the 41 Han hoth and AT AT driver that sold recently. I've had two of each in the past and struggled to sell the spare.

I imagine they will settle back down to something normal, though quite what that normal will be I couldn't say. But I would think prices will even out and there will be less of the mad jumping.

But then, what do I know!! I can't predict anything on prices at the moment!

Firstly apologies Gaz, my mistake you did put the Luke and Leia Bespin in the mid range of 'toughness' category. (Obviously I know you don't include the 30B Luke Bespin in that group!) This is what happens when you are trying to post with your iPhone when your at work

Yeh ****ing £350 for a 41 Luke farm boy, amazing!! Especially when you consider that a 45a AT-AT Comm sold on eBay around a couple of years ago for about £360 yes £360!!!!

The Luke was another one with pinholes, and it does really affect price - even so it was a good price.

Sorry you didn't get it Lee

Seriously no need for apologies. The 30b Luke is definitely a rare one. In fact as we were talking about Darthmasonic auctions, he turned up a few rarities back then including a Luke 30b...which was only the third one I know about. I got his 30b Bossk for under £400, as well as a Han Hoth and HRS for the 30b set I was trying to complete. He also had a WBG a few rare 12 backs. Of particular interest to me was the unpunched 12 back Jawa which I got, having been searching for one for 6+ years!!

With regard to the 41 back Luke, A 41 back C3P0 sold the same time for around £400

Incredible!! Yeh I heard about the Bossk, just like the 12 Leia rare Bargain!! Rem watching the 30A WBG, that shot to around £1100 in the last few secs.
Paul did have some lovely pieces, I had a couple of 20 backs from him and he did inform me when he was going to list that 30B Luke Bespin. He started that Luke at £999 because that Leia I mentioned had recently sold so cheap and he didn't want that to happen again. Very honest eBayer I found, nice guy!

I met him at Mem. Really nice guy, though impossible to get an out of eBay deal on things no matter how much money you threw at him!!

That Luke went for just over 1k if I remember correctly. Strange when you consider that Han Hoth or 21B that went for around the £900 mark.

But back then I guess prices were generally stable and hadn't yet done the rapid jump we now currently have!

The Bossk was cheap, but I had figured it around the £5-600 mark max as I put my bid in! So it wasn't a huge shock, though certainly a pleasant one I wasn't overly shocked at the WBG as I still believe he is one of the toughest ESB characters on any of the logo cards and what with it being a 30 back it was going to hit a high amount. Plus I knew of 2 big hitters that were going for it.

The one that really shocked me at that point was the HST, which hit £900ish. Now, that would surprise at how cheap it went, but back then (2008) it was crazily high!

I really do! - this is the kind of information that is Invaluable to new collectors and very rarely makes it into collectors books, again many thanks

Just going back to esb 45 back b cards and rarity. I know rules about outing auctions so I won't post a link, but a 45 Stormtrooper has just appeared on an auction site for just under £200 and it's afa 80. I would be tempted if I still had any 45 backs left. No idea how rare the stormie is on a 45b though.

Totally mate, I practically begged Paul for an off eBay deal on the two 20 backs I had but he wanted to give everyone a fair chance which I suppose I had the hump with at the time because I was very passionate about grabbing those pieces but looking back now admire his choice to let the auction run-v fair guy!

Btw do you still have the same email address, tried to send you some pics a month or so ago and couldn't do it?

I'd say its about right Lee - a good price for a rare item, but unless they increase in popularity I don't see prices heading up (famous last words  )

I'm surprised (but glad) they haven't become more popular. You'd have thought considering the rarity/popularity of the logo'd stuff, more people would have moved onto them. You could, in a short space of time pick up a few for relatively good prices

Nice pic Steve, I agree pinholes aren't a big deal, I had a 41 han bespin for a while displayed great but bought and sold cheap :)

Was my memory right regarding price?

I can't remember to be honest. So many bottles of Jack Daniels (and nice palitoys) have passed through my hands since, that I cant remember  I think your Han came from the same guy on RS didnt it, or have I got that mixed up? I knew in total he had three or four 41bks and i remember one being Leia Hoth.

Beautiful!! Those pin holes wouldn't put me off-I'd sooner suffer pinholes like that than a yellow bubble!!
