I thought this one went for a very fair price seeming the canopy is the clearest I've ever seen and it had the instructions. The rest of it wasn't quite complete and a little damaged but I've seen just the canopy go for more.

I did wonder that myself although I've never actually seen a repro one up for sale. I know they exist but it's strange that you don't see them as it's the one thing that almost always has turning some sort of shade of orange or is missing.

A canopy that clear :? Chances are it is a repro :!:
I have seen shop stock examples with orange canopys!
The best original canopy I have seen is one on a complete boxed DS my mate picked up from a guy a few years ago that had been made up once and then stored in the loft for 30 years. The canopy on that had a v slight tinge.

I also have never seen a repro for sale advertised as a repro :roll:
However I believe there is something on this on 'Imperial Gunnery'
Also an established dealer from the early 90s told me repro canopys have been around for a fair while and any crystal clear canopys that turn up are most prob repro :!:
Because virtually all canopys are tinged to orange and there is a real uncertainty with any clear examples that turn up I'd play it safe and avoid any clear examples unless of course one is found in the factory sealed bags in an untouched example :wink:
