Hey all,
I've took the plunge and finally joined this site.
I have moments in my life where an impulse comes along to look at and read about vintage SW figures
and browsing this brilliant site is always part of it - so I thought I'd join.
Sometimes my interest takes the form of me obsessing about getting a certain figure or ship and that's where ebay becomes king.
However ebay doesn't have everything (unless you stare at it constantly) so a lot of figures have escaped my grasp.
My passion is the Palitoy 12 backs and I have 9. A couple of them are probably not keepers but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
I need the following;

Chewbacca
Han Solo
Ben Kenobi

I want to try and get them in this order so do any of you lads and lasses have any / 'know anyone who has' any of these figures for sale - in particular Chewie. If yoeu havee prices roo that would help.
Thanks for reading folks and speak to you later.
Cheers Bri

The first 12 are a quality set, but have your cheque book ready

Here's the latest Chewie that sold on eBay...

From looking at the 3 you say you need, at least you have Luke, who traditionally is the most expensive.

As for Ben and Han, it's really hard to give prices. Before the Chewie aution I'd have said around the
£1k mark each, give or take a few hundred either side

Hey thanks for your replies.
Yes it looks like I'll just have to look at pictures of the other three.
I do have the chewie card with original bubble still partly attached (bought off ebay a couple of years ago).

Here's some details of what I've got sealed;

Jawa (Bought off an publicised telephone auction about 10 years ago)
princess leia (same auction)
Sandpeople (Toy fair down Brentwood i think)
R2D2 (Bought with sandpeople)
Stormtrooper (Bought from seller in Oz off advert in Action figures magazine about 10 years ago. That was a leap of faith cos I wasn't sure what I was getting)
Darth vader (Brentwood again but another time)
Death Squad Commander (AFA 80 or 85 can't remebember off ebay)
C3-PO (Off Ebay)
Luke (Off Ebay about 8 years ago cost around £750)

The telephone auction had the first 20 figures and I wish I had bought more (especially chewie I'm sure someone reading this did buy it)
I picked the figures up from a car park in Milton Keynes if I remember rightly - happy days!

Just seen the chewie auction - the cost is horrendous but let's be honest it's worth every penny.
I can't believe I missed this auction since I have a palitoy filter set up in ebay.
Probably a good thing mind since it's way outside my price range :(

Hi,

You just missed a pin head 12 back Han that was on ebay last week (maybe that Palitoy filter needs looking at!). It had a BIN price of 1600 pounds but you could make an offer . There were 2 other 12 backs listed at the same time from the same seller (who I think was from here), and all 3 went after 1 day so I guess an offer was made for all of them.

Also a month or so ago there was another pin head 12 back Han with a starting bid of 250 pounds on ebay which was only up for a few hours. Again I think someone made an offer and again I think it was someone from here as I'm sure I've seen it in the latest acquisitions thread recently. Maybe those people would have the best idea on price for the Han, well that's if they feel comfortable mentioning it. Other wise the last Han (pin head) I saw for sale was from Brians Toys earlier this year and it was AFA 80 and went for about 1700 pounds.

As for the Ben, I haven't seen one for a while but around the 1K mark sounds about right and you probably should forget about the Chewbacca as I've only seen the one that sold recently for sale in the last 4-5 years. I think a couple of others have changed hands through private collectors but this seems to be the one that nobody can find at the moment.

Best of luck with it all and who knows what will turn up next year as I've never seen as many MOC and resealed Palitoy 12 backs for sale as I have this year, maybe a few people out there are losing the bug.

Yes the chewie filter was under 'collectables' and mine is set as 'action figures'.
I will just change my filter to all categories.
Ebay are always messing about with the filters now you have to wade through so much modern junk (no offence to the kids) to find anything from the 70/80's vintage line.

It never ends with ebay messing things around! I've just sent you a PM which you can look at by clicking on the orange tab at the top.

Cheers!

I personally don't see how Chewie is worth that much. Even taking into account the rarity v demand equation, the preice it went for was way beyond what one has ever knowingly sold for before.

Not begrudging the seller mind you as I think it's awesome he was able to get that muc money for something!

I sold one a few yeas ago for just over 1k. Should have kept hold of it :D

Hey Kingshearer :)

By the sounds of it you have a awesome Collection and have to the perfect place 8)

Would love to see your pieces in the limelight section :)

I've just checked my 'empty' 12 back chewie and it is fully sealed but the figure and stand card were taken out by cutting the top of the bubble (rather than the bubble being pulled off to one side. So the card is perfect but the bubble isn't. Still looks great from a distance. And the card has a 99p price tag on the front of the card just like the £5k+ version had on ebay although the shops are different cos that would have been very spooky.

Yes I'm pretty sure I used to go to Brentford Essex for the toy fairs. I'm from Newcastle but worked in London so was able to go to these events on a Sunday. The same people also run one in Reading which was quite handy for me too. The best deal I got there was a tri-logo Han Solo for £35.

Cool. I'm sure that Chewie looks fine.

You are certainly on the right site for information on Palitoy stuff. There are quire a few Palitoy collectors on here

Hello there 'Kingshearer', welcome to the forum!

Yeh you def should have made the effort to pick up a few more MOCs from that auction! As said well done on getting the Luke, u'd def struggle to get hold of one of those today an it will cost big money!!

You will almost certainly get Han first, then Ben and if ur really lucky and rich Chewie! Has to be said though, there is a good chance you won't get Chewie!!

The last Ben I know of sold for 2K  it was AFA Tri 85 but that is no excuse  Certainly £1500 for that example would not be out of the question today!

Did anyone here take part in that telephone auction? it must have been about 12 years ago, be interested to learn who got what, this is mine;

Leia £420
Jawa £260

It was over 12 years ago - but I agree even back then I thought it was a good deal.
I think the Luke went for over a grand and Chewie was well under a grand but I had just started collecting then so didn't know the individual rarity.

In 2002 when I decided to try for a set, I was quoted £2500 for a Luke. Price went up a lot from 2000!

H was also considered almost impossible to find

Great figure tohave. One of my favourites as he was the very first figure I had as a child :)

Indeed Gary! IMO the most iconic piece of all!!
If I had to choose between loosing my Luke or Chewie or even my large head Han, Chewie and the Han would be going mate!!!
