A great start to the new trilogy, with more than enough loose ends to keep the interest.
Not least, the return of the Last Jedi.

Can't wait for Episode VIII.

Just wish they had been a tad more adventurous with the plot and toned down the ANH callbacks.

For me, the new movie is likely what the majority of Star Wars fans wanted...and hoped for...especially after the overall opinion on Episodes I-III...Abrams was right to reboot a winning formula...perhaps not quite to the extent that he chose to but generally speaking...and also to introduce the flavour of Star Wars, the battle of good 'n evil and the whole family themed storyline to the younger generation, whilst keeping the real fans happy with the old cast and (thank you, thank you) REAL sets and the classic Star Wars atmosphere.

I loved it...and I am so looking forward to Episodes VIII and IX...

...not to mention Rogue One next year...which I now have very high hopes for...just think...a year from now...we'll have another movie to talk about :D

Liked it (with niggles blurring my view) on first viewing.

Loved it on second viewing as I let it flow over me and just watched it for fun without the fear; I was so worried it would be **** it overshadowed my first view.

It's a yes from me!

I friggin loved it. I love all the call backs to the originals. Of course it has flaws....but so does every movie I've ever seen. Daisy ridley is a fantastic actor loved her performance. ..I loved BB8 to not too cute /annoying. Adam driver played a class villain. All the characters were very believable.
I hated watching it in 3D though...so going on my own next week to watch it in 2D to soak it all up.

A few little gripes aside but I loved it.

There's never going to be anything like the OT - its 30 years later and so many movies have come and gone. I'm 40 in March and if this movie gave me the same feeling I did when I was 7 then there'd be something wrong! I'm proud of being a 1st generation fan but there's no point in constantly comparing it.

It was a great movie and kudos to Disney/Lucasfilm for not revealing anything right up until we watched it in the cinema. In this day and age that's amazing that they could even pull that off. They also gave us probably the best trailers EVER for any movie!! :D

Great one was also watching it with a small bit of fear, but it came good. I don't think it could have been done much better. Really looking forward now to watching it again. A thumbs up for me :)

Interesting that this poll pretty much reflects other poll sites like Rotten Tomatoes - 92% audience, 95% critics.

People say we're all geeky, strange loners but deep down they're all like us!

I don't hate it (I ****in hate the prequels) and I don't like being negative about it purely because it's always something special to watch SW in the cinema. As my daughter said it's her first proper SW on the big screen but I would have enjoyed it more if I'd known I was going to see a reboot. I was expecting a new story. Honestly think I would have loved it if the original cast hadn't been in it, just a straight forward retelling/reboot.
Really looking forward to rogue1

Yeah, sums it up quite well. I do like it, but it does copy a LOT from ANH. Still, it beats the Prequels so for me that's a massive plus.

Thumbs up from me :)

Been again today with our young lad. You forget how emotional moments affect kids. He was kind of in shock after the film finished and in denial about what happened ( "it'll be ok ...won't it?" - "They'll find him won't they?" ).

Whatever our adult minds make of TFA, when kids react like this I think it's a good sign. It's as though it meant something. This reaction reminded me of seeing E.T as a kid and the emotions I had going on when he died  ...and then when he was resurrected :D

I saw some reactions on here to events in TFA that seemed like pretty much the same thing - strong emotional reactions along the lines of, "they can't do that!". It's got to be good that the new Star Wars movie made us feel something other than just disappointment :)

Personally didn't like it much at all. Found it boring and not very good at all. Am going to see it again with a mate may have another opinion after seeing it again but still not sure if will like it. Sticking to the originals.

First viewing I thought it was great but had similar issues with it as everyone else - same old story, wasn't convinced by Finn etc.

Second viewing all that was forgotten - it's absolutely brilliant.

I left the fan boy at home and appreciated it for what it is - a ripping yarn. I need a few more viewings but I genuinely feel this is the best Star Wars film yet

It does have some easy nostalgia wins that the original trilogy could never have, but the acting, dialogue, and pace is better than anything before it

ESB is fantastic but I always thought Dagobah was too drawn out, whilst there isn't a single scene I dislike in TFA, some characters could be better, but the scenes are perfectly timed and Daisy Ridley and Harrison Ford are outstanding. Carrie Fisher too - how does she not take the mad old crone persona into her acting?

I'm still buzzing and can't wait to see it again
