No matter what country....what side of the pond....most of them are losers and tossers.

Aint that the truth! Lying, egotistical, two-faced, self interested, incompetant wankers! The sad thing is that's just the good ones. The bad ones are much much orse!

Still at least your politicians (British and American) actually talk about the occasional policy, even if it if it is mainly waffle and BS. Ours still haven't got beyond the religion thing. It really is pathetic!

Well the church had it's start over there and still seems to have a tight grip. Same with royalty over there....just my general observation (Watch out for stones  )

I think we should keep our kings and queens. The next logical next step will allow us to have wizards and dragons.

Royal family............Bunch of leeches and a waste of ****ing space! Can we send them over to you along with Abu Hamza?

I respect the fact that at one time in the UK they held some amount of power. Now they are no more than elitist wealthy placed on a pedestal. Possibly a sense of pride for your countries, but no better or more important than the average citizen. I look at them like I do celebrities. On another note, Did your government fund that Jubelee thing?

I don't understand why people need to be so negative. I am a big fan of the Royal Family and think that on the whole they do a great job for this country both in terms of tourism and representing us as a nation - it is also worth noting that

"the Crown Estate produced £200 million for the Treasury in the financial year 2007–8, whereas parliamentary funding for the monarch was £40 million during the same period. The Crown Estate is one of the largest property owners in the United Kingdom, worth over £6.6 billion"

im not a royalist but i do think were better off with a monarchy than a presidentcy system like the states have

I don't want a 'President'. The last thing we need is another quasi-politician running about wasting tax payers money on lovely wee jollies here there and everywhere (why is it they always seem to be warm sunny countries!?).

But Todd is right, I don't see any benefit from the Royal family. All that Crown Estates money is money they have made from land that was given to them by various governments way back when.
The amount they have taken from this country over the years is magnitudes bigger than anything they have done for us. Don't forget it was only 20 years ago the Queen started to pay Income tax! Imagine how much richer we would all be if our fathers, grand fathers, great grand fathers etc etc, had been exempt from Income tax. Ohh and had been given a nice big palace to live in along with a retinue of staff to look after them.

The royals have had a very cushy deal from the tax payers of this country for centuries. Time they started to live in the real world...............we all have to!

Not as cushy as the 'signing on' massive...

They are more of a drain on the rest of us than the Royals will ever be, and more relevant to the state of the NHS than the Royals.

Couldn't agree more. And the trouble is they are the ones breeding the fastest - each generation believing that they are entitied to benefits without having to do a damn thing for them

I had a conversation about this with someone else on here and I said it's evolution in reverse.

In nature the strongest/fittest/smartest survive and breed. In the modern world those are the people who go out to work and earn money. The very people who are taxed within an inch of their lives and who are too stressed/tired/worried about losing their jobs to be able to have kids. Whereas the dole scroungers breed like rabbits, because what else is there to do all day, and then the Gov gives them more money (child support) and a nice house to live in.

Can someone explain the logic to me!?
